I thought it was hard watching Lance trying to overcome the mental part of committing to the ollie, but Gabe's was much more of a difficult one. I would never have expected to find that Gab didn't know how to do the 5 stair at this stage of his skating. Lance deserves so much more respect after seeing this. It reminded me of my old time skating when I would film my friends and at first i thought it was a technical issue where they couldn't figure out how to do the trick but after a good 3 hours of seeing them bail and bail and bail you realize that they already know how to do it, but it's them not committing to it. Man skating really is awesome just from the way it makes a human being forced to overcome their most natural instinct in fear of getting hurt because it is programmed in us to avoid things that might cause us pain or put us in danger but skating completely goes against that and in turn rewards you with the joy and thrill of the fun that comes with not only landing a trick and its adrenaline but the ultimate self made achievement of doing what you thought you couldnt do only to realize it wasnt anything else but yourself stopping you.

I live in a small town called Bournemouth, in the south of England. When I learned to skate I was acid dropping off 7ft ledges before I could kick flip. I never learned the technical side of skateboarding, I could barely kick flip, and I haven't been skateboarding for a long time but just bought a fresh set up at 26. This is the sort of thing every kid should be doing. It's so much fun and a huge adrenalin rush! Break some legs!

Nice job Gabe, all you really need to get in the mindset that you are going to do it no matter what is falling. If you commit, you may fall, it will suck. But you will realize that it wasn't as bad you thought it was and get over it. I learned to ollie a 5 stair before flip tricks and grinds. In the long run it's your choice. The way you're progressing, you'll be tre flipping it in no time. FTH!

@VLSkate9 жыл бұрын
maredevil1 it all depends on what you practice. i could just as easily say how can you get to the point where you can almost kickflip a 7 stair but you can't even varial flip? i only skate flatground and i can do some weird tricks but i bet i couldn't ollie a 3 stair :(
@maredevil19 жыл бұрын
I hate flatground lol its so boring :/ I'd skate absolutely anything but flat
@danielrigo47409 жыл бұрын
I just did ma first varial flip today:)
@nollieheel9 жыл бұрын
maredevil1 If you hate flat ground and wont skate it, then you will not progress very well in skateboarding, flat ground tricks is critical. You should learn ever trick on flat before you try that trick down anything. Learn it propper first. If you learn a trick down a drop before flat you will be learning it wrong and wont have the trick as good or as comfortable. Doing tricks down stuff is a head game, has nothing to do with how good you are, has every thing with confidence

@Headshothorror44889 жыл бұрын
Yeah cause he does flat ground which is most popular. U don't have to do stairs to skate and I think there boring nothing beats flat and flat is why most people skate. Just saying IMO
@showdownrocks9 жыл бұрын
***** "Flat is why most people skate" That is a VERY ignorant statement. If that were the case, skateparks wouldn't be funded, there would be no such thing as street spots. Just because aaron kryo and beginners only skate flat, that does not reflect the skateboarding community in the least

+Steezus Christ its 100% a commitment/fear thing. I'm positive his exact thoughts are "oh shit im gonna land leaning back and the boards gonna shoot out from under me if I go too fast." But speed is the main key for stairs. That's why you can barely ollie 3 decks but ollie a 7, you're not afraid of speed and you commit. Regardless of how high you can ollie.
