13:35 I was on the arrival from Gibraltar. Kudos to the pilot as it was a bit rough coming in. Incidentally, I flew out on the same plane to Gibraltar on the previous day and we were diverted to Malaga as it had issues with the air-brake meaning it could not land on the short runway at Gib. Fortunately the issue was rectified at Malaga and we continued our journey, albeit a little late.

This takes me back to my childhood. 40 years ago my mates dad was a flight engineer and he would go to work at both Heathrow and Gatwick and leave us there for the day with our airband radios to run riot. We went into so many place that you weren't allowed to go in to but security is very different thrse days. I don't live in the area any more and to be honest had put these memories out of mind until you have just reminded me. Funny how your brain holds this info. Thanks for resparking the memories.

I liked this as the Finnair plane landing at 15.22pm I was on, I was flying from Finland to Heathrow last Sunday afternoon. It was quite turbulent in the air, but the pilots do such a great job. Fantastic to see my plane come in from the ground.

Just landed on BA2707 at Gatwick which went around and was very, VERY rough on both landing attempts. Absolutely sterling job by the pilots to get it down at its destination and not divert to Paris which I believe was the next option

I flew all my life. One thing i loved was the reverse engines brake on landing because it really felt the plane braking hard. I thought it was simply engines in reverse until i saw this video and explanation. Awesome work Mr.

Aerobraking is taught and used in the military. So when you see an airliner land and use it most likely there is an ex military pilot at the controls. But airlines tell the pilots to just get the plane down on the ground.

Awesome filming! It must be tough on the long haul pilots because they only do a fraction of the landings compared to the short haul guys/gals. For example Perth to London over 17 hrs and one landing. London to Paris just over 1 hour so the short haul captain & first officer would clock up a huge number of landings compared to the Qantas pilots. And would the pilots who fly small planes on their days off have an advantage??

With regards to the aerobraking. I’ve heard with the reduction in speed the rudder becomes less effective with the airflow over it. Especially with big cross winds want to get the nose down quick for the nose wheel steering

im watching all the way from zimbabwe i like landings and take offs i see most pilots land the leg wheels then the right immediately a few touch both sides simultenously is it a particular skill to use the left side first i saw a few land the right first, i saw Eqypt air and Poruguese air had a rough landing around past 7 CAT time
