P.S. I would say the fact that you get asked that every single stream is a good sign full stop seems to mean you're getting more and more viewers!!

I am only 8:45 in as I sit to listen and paint some SSZ, but I had to stop to offer a resounding second on the Three Body Problem recommendation. It’s a wonderful work.

I really enjoy Vallejo Mecha Matte Varnish. It is really matte (I haven't tried AK Interactive's, so cannot compare). It is intended for Mecha models so is intended for lots of handling. I dropped a varnished figure onto a concrete floor, the miniature broke, but I glued it back together and you cannot tell. No paint chipped. I highly recommend.

I’ll have to get a bottle and compare to the super matte. Thank you for the tip

Interesting. In the states little lending library’s are very popular. People put them on their property and people take and leave books. They are meant to be in use indefinitely

This was a campaign to celebrate public libraries, not permanent fixtures. The two would require vastly different budgets.

Hey there, missed the stream because I was helping out at a dog show. Been catching up steadily. I do like how these look, though I also haven't gotten a great deal of use out my Kimera yet, been a little aimless with my painting and intending on clearing out my warhammer rubbish before I try and find what is really important to me. Though I gotta say I love the vibrant skin you put on your fish alien. Very good demonstration and honestly has me thinking about those aliens I got tucked away in my bits pile somewhere. Maybe I will look at that once I've overcome my slump. One thing I always feel about paints is that, once varnished and the like; a lot of the differences between them settle down somewhat and that certain paint textures can add interesting texture.

I agree, when varnished what one mainly sees is the paintjob and not the paint. For me the brand of paint comes down to what I like to paint with. What makes painting more fun and inspiring. I painted miniature recently with GSW paints and they seriously do not suit my paint style. These SoFlat worked real well for me, on first impressions I’d say I enjoy them more than Kimera.

I am sorry to have missed the live stream but it was awesome to at least catch up. You are a "character" and your sincere engagement is much appreciated. I have been looking hard at the so-flat paints by Golden thanks for reviewing them. I have the "full" set of the Kimera single pigment paints which set the standard for vibrant single pigments, I am still having difficulty diluting down appropriately. I would like to see how they compare. Glad you brought up decanting to dropper bottles, I have no regrets doing that for any pot based paint. The innovation of Golden is looking to be a choice brand for me, at this rate I expect them to surpass my favored brand. You may want to look at the Golden "open" brand of acrylics, they are designed to act like oil paints in dry time. I am more a Liquitex fan where I find the GW paints are highly compatible with them so I can extend either group. Liquitex makes a point of offering non-cadmium colours you may want to look at. I like how the artist paints give MUCH more information so some compatibility can be found. The cadmium safety issue is a fantastic thing to highlight. AK I am trying to use more, I find they seem to be more vibrant and blend better than the highly mixed pigment Vallejo brands. Thanks, your comments and viewpoints are MUCH appreciated, you have an interesting way of viewing things that seems to make me ask "why did I not see that?"

Thank you Brad. I have been enjoying the kimera a lot but I’ve found them difficult to wetblend with, something a do a lot. On first glance, these golden work out better for me in that regard. I think this is one of the reasons I encourage folk to try different paint ranges. It’s not necessarily about the quality of paint, rather if the paint suits what your doing / paint style.

I saw Duncan's 50/50 mix with contrast medium and tried that most recently and it is wonderful. Highly recommend a mix with contrast medium.
