Weekly Poker Hand #330: We are back at bestbet Jacksonville in a live No Limit Texas Holdem cash game where we really see live tells in all their glory. This video gives a clear example of why we should try our best to not give off too much information during the middle of a hand otherwise it makes it too easy for our opponents to play well against us.
I see this time and time again in the low stakes games where there are live tells everywhere! Don’t just be working on the technical part of your game but start trying to look for certain physical tells your opponents give off as well as trying to be more self aware of the tells that you might be displaying.

I don't get Amber's fold of her open-ended straight draw on the flop. Yeah, the board was paired, but how many boats were really out there? Meanwhile, she had to call $35 with $130 in the pot. That seems like a VERY straightforward call to me, even if you're afraid of a flush draw for some reason. The turn is an easy fold, but that flop fold just seems weak to me.

I would check the turn, yes you pick up two pair but the only hands it matters against is AK,AQ,AJ, any 8 you are still beat against , and it completes the flush draw; your hand is a bluff Catcher nothing more, so checking makes the most sense, I might check raise if he seems timid about the flush, but it would be a bluff targeting an 8 or combo draw, but primarily check call for pot control ,

So when you’re saying people are defending their blinds way too wide in small stakes, is that way too wide against bigger sizing (5bb +) or against more “standard” sizing (2-3bb)? And is the exploit against this bigger sizing to be tighter when calling and raising a more merged range or is it more nuanced than that? Love the content btw

Getting better than 3-1. It’s a tough spot but there is no way you can fold unless you know your opponent. She bet quick so I’m thinking that polarized her. Just call the bet small on the river and fold if she re raises.

love these reviews - definitely a tough spot for the a 10 on the turn - with a hand that's strong but not even close to the effective nuts, the type of hand that is probably best if you're not getting action but is NOT thrilled when the opponent is shoveling all the chips. So call the turn without giving away tells but how do we evaluate these spots on the river?

Once I got A10s UTG at the big tournament and folded. The flop was my flush... It was deep, the blinds were still quite small, but I was so out of position. I uderstand that it is a very small chance to flop a flush, but still, it was the best luck that day and I let it slip through my fingers. I don't know how would I play it next time. The guy after me (UTG+2) was raising 4BB when he was betting and he played quite lose. He got one call, his opponent folded after flop.

Pause - folding those top two pair would be so hard to do, even with the diamonds and paired board, especially for 60 bucks....I wouldn't feel good about calling, wouldn't feel good about folding it either...one thing is that if you call the 60 bucks you have to be ready to call the river bet too so that might be enough to knock me off the top two pair...still a really tough fold

Game was .5/$1 everyone is 100bb+ 4 handed because I player just got stacked I was sb with QJo Big blind Best player at the table (willing to run big bluffs) raises to raises to 4 Button call. I call 4c Jh 4h I led for 7 Villain calls other player folds Qs turn I check to induce the villain to bluff he bets 26 Kc River I check expecting his bluff range to be all pocket pairs 7-10s and one pair hands that play with the board. He ships. I snap call He has 4h 9h.

3 bet Preflop big to like 15-20$ instead of flatting the 4, highly likely he gets out the hand instead of getting in there for 4$. U have QJ which plays pretty decently Postflop, I would check call the flop after 3 betting if u get callers cuz they could be playing aa kk qq aj jj. Then when Q comes turn check call it too. Then river comes lead for decent amount with ur two pair. Also usually smaller stakes cash game hardly ever a river jam bluff, maybe 10-15% of the time base on my personal experience unless they super short. Just let it go, huge part of poker is knowing when to fold. 3bet more Preflop, it isolates players and gets rid of the “shitty” hands so 49 will never see the flop unless their deranged maniac and them constantly doing that long term is not profitable.

7:43 Generally wouldn't be in this spot since I don't play A10 utg+1 in my game. If I'm at this specific table though, and op calls my flop bet and bets large on the turn? Gonna fold because I am likely against something nasty.
@blowc1612
@blowc1612 3 жыл бұрын
But she didn’t bet big and it’s callable, you’re not drawing dead and you have outs for a monster hand. Folding on the turn is the worst decision you can make. Also it tells me you’re not good enough to play AX off shoot utg to navigate through a hand. You need to incorporate these moments in your game or you easily become predictable. If you want to be better in poker, you need to play bad hands and find a way to win with them.

In online 6-max I lose most of my money holding ak and aqo. These are really negative hands for me because they make one pair and often I can't fold when the nits who call in position decide to pile it in when there are lots of draws available. Aqo should be the rock bottom of your opening range utg. I have a friend who will fold even that 9 handed. It's not so bad short stacked.
@MrSeppei
@MrSeppei 3 жыл бұрын
If you have a negative winrate with AK, then youre doing something wrong. My winrate with AK is 350BB/100 out of 100k hands. And I am pretty sure there is room for improvement. (With AKo its 50BB/100)
@hymnofashes
@hymnofashes 3 жыл бұрын
@@MrSeppei well obviously I am bad. I know that's an abberation. Overall I am -5bb/100, but almost all the money I've lost playing zoom over 40k hands is rake. So I'm not like a giant fish. I'm just bringing this up to show that it's really hard to play one big pair out of position against tough opponents who will sometimes flat with aces on the button, 3-bet polarized, call with all their implied odds hands, and not put another chip into the pot on an ace or king high board unless they've got you beat or have a strong draw. Yeah you make money when everyone folds, you've got 2 good blockers, and yeah your c bet is going to take the pot a lot, but once the flop bet gets called, you're usually in bad shape. They aren't going to just call you down 3 streets with a7s like a live donk will.

And that’s why you need to study the game further. She wouldn’t be holding aces, and if she had a flush draw she would had raised on the flop. It’s more obvious she had a 10 or an 8. Also you’re not drawing dead and can catch a 10 or an ace, folding is literally the worst move at the turn and you should just quit poker.

And after she called the turn your moving in on the river unblocking diamonds and she can easily have a house herself. She plays EVERYTHING, so 88, 10-8 A8 are easily possible and she could have the flush since Steve held no diamonds - unblock as you say But hey you know all the play A when you can see the cards lol
