The American Battlefield Trust preserves America’s hallowed battlegrounds and educates the public about what happened there and why it matters. We permanently protect these battlefields for future generations as a lasting and tangible memorial to the brave soldiers who fought in the American Revolution, the War of 1812, and the Civil War.

CWTI holds a special place in my heart for me. As a 9 year old boy I had a subscription and also held a running letter correspondence with then editor William C. Davis. As a 20 something man I was blessed to meet him on the field of Gettysburg.

Although, there's a moment of confusion during the early monument presentation, it's a great presentation about the early monument; a wealth of information I've never heard or read from anyone. I like the different presenters provided by the "Trust." My first visit to the Gettysburg site was in 1959. I again visited the site in 1997. Eaglegards...

Just a fantastic presentation ABT. Being a linear fellow, I would love to see your video's marked 159th-01 Title, 159th-02 Title to make sure I'm seeing them in order. Keep up the great work. I'd also like some of Garry's energy. Hallelujah!

As for the cannons not being able to be defused low enough to fire on the advancing Confederates, the same thing happened on Little Round Top when Lt. Hazlett's battery was sent to it's summit to aid in the hill's defense and the gunners were unable to defuse the barrels low enough to fire on the advancing Confederates. Is it safe to say general Howard performed competently at Gettysburg because i previously learned he had issues? It was pretty smart of Hancock to place a battery on Steven's Knoll to provide enfilading fire on the Confederates. He studied the campaigns of Alexander the Great, Frederick the Great, and Napoleon, himself an artillery officer, in preparation for the war, and it clearly more than paid off. Lastly, was the XII Corps commander, General Slocum more on the southern end of the battlefield during the second and third days of fighting?

Just saying but James Bruce Rickets really interests me and the reason is because I used to live up around Williamsport Pennsylvania and about 26 miles west from the town I was living in was this park called Rickets Glenn State Park and you see after the civil war Rickets brought 66,000 Timber land and after his death his heirs sold much of the timber land to the state of Pennsylvania and this timber land eventually became what is now known as Rickets Glenn State Park.

I just finished watching June 30th and July 1st of the movie Gettysburg. I like the original monument. It is more of a memorial honoring the men than the state funded monument.

In Major Thomas Osborn’s account of the artillery cannonade of July 3rd he stated that an Ohio battery acted cowardly that day but their unit is still included on the monument on Cemetery Hill. Which battery was it?
