Very interesting mower. Sure doesn't have a problem taking off. Now, for the test run.

Thanks for the unboxing Tim. I run a lawnmower business using a van and I would prefer been able to flip the handle back like the other EGO mowers. Also, will be difficult to manoeuvre in small yard sections or corridors in new houses developments. I will keep the select cut a bit longer. No need to upgrade after watching your video. Thanks! 👍

@@turfandtools When i contacted Ego directly about the batteries on this mower they told me its only a 1year warrenty on the batteries and that the batteries were more of a domestic battery so now i am really conflicted on weather i should buy one of these. In one hand i want the mower to do mow commercially but they are telling me the batteries are only really suited to residential applications. So kinda still on the fence weather to go electric or petrol now. The one thing i wish they made was a foldable handle for this mower.

Hi Tim! with the helpful videos from this channel i bought into the EGO eco system. I am VERY happy with the new mower & blower, battery life and power they produce. It only made sense that i would eventually transition my whipper snipper over as well & placed an order for the new MULTI TOOL 56V POWER HEAD (with the new trigger) I live in a major capital city in AUS & am currently waiting 15 weeks for EGO to get them in stock to my local supplier I'm not sure if there was more interest in their new line than they had anticipated OR perhaps a different issue? I do find it perplexing that a company of this size would market themselves so successfully (via excellent channels such as this) to then make it difficult to obtain. In any case i will continue to have faith and enjoy these unboxings in all their glory. I also quite loved this format :)

I like the power, i like the top speed. My gripe is the self-propelled system couldve been better refined. If Ego used a potentiometer, you could feather the bail arm to dial in like the Masport drive system 😉

Hows it compare with the Greenworks Commercial equivalent? I think that ones a single height adjustment.

The one that is equivalent from Greenworks hasn’t been released yet. They have an 82v out, but it’s not comparable to this.

@@turfandtools Ah gotcha. I was looking at the greenworks site and they had a 22" 82V unit that seemed similar.

I have one of these mowers and it cuts out on thick zoysia and spongy buffalo grass doing maintenance catch mows with freshly sharpened blades. It did a pretty good job of an overgrown with mongrel seed and paspalum, still prefer my honda hru216 for catch mows of wet grass.

also it spits a few clippings out the top and onto the battery compartment when mowing, makes me want to wear a dust mask

Very expensive Mower Nice video
@GoodGuyGlen5 ай бұрын
Got one, been using it in my business for about 2 months now. Been enjoying it, but there are a couple things that are annoying/poorly designed. Before I get into all these problems, I want to state that I thoroughly enjoy having and using this mower and I still leave my Honda HRU216 at home despite all these issues because the good parts of it make it great to use for me. HOWEVER, some of these issues are going to annoy some users more than others, and spending this kind of money on a machine with so many avoidable problems can give buyers remorse pretty easily. So to help out some of the consumers here, here's my low points for this mower after some extensive use for how long this mower has been available for... The skid plates around the bottom edge of the deck (they are not installed in this video, they will likely be shop fitted) are awful in practice. They make the mower unusable on it's lowest setting as the bolts holding the plate in place stick out quite a lot and drag on the grass causing it to lift up grass behind you. And mowing it again doesn't fix it. After nearly 2 months use, one of the bolts holding the skid plates fell out without my knowledge and pulling the mower back caused the skid plate to dig into the ground and bend. I immediately removed the skid plates altogether: instantly better mowing results, and now more random scratch marks going over concrete edges. This is by far the worst part of the mower, if not having them installed doesn't affect your warranty, remove them immediately. The window on top to view the batteries scratches extremely easily (dry dust will leave scratches trying to wipe it clear by hand), and dust gets under it into the battery compartment during use, which means water will as well. There is no seal of any sort around it, just hopes and prayers that dust and moisture won't make it past the lip. It would have been much better to have proper battery indicators at the handle rather than a window. The height adjustment could be better designed. I constantly feel like I'm either cutting too low or not enough because it's just about a full cm (9-10mm) between each setting. It also doesn't get as low as most petrol mowers so some lawns I just have to cut higher now: it's not by much, but if you are cutting this low to begin with it's likely you are dealing with a highly maintained lawn and this mower isn't well suited for that. The height adjusters are also spring loaded, which is good for lifting the mower height, but lowering it can actually be quite difficult and takes some effort. The catcher is difficult to tell whether it's getting full or not, and it's easy to over fill it despite having a huge capacity. You will find yourself manually checking more often than a Honda. The mower can't tip forward very far before it bottoms out and won't roll on the wheels anymore: this is more for when you have to step down from a raised area to a lower one. Even going from a nature strip down to the road will cause it to drag if you have the mower deck height set low. These comments are heavily weighted against the mower to let anyone know who might be interested to be wary. There are lots of pros, and as I've mentioned I still prefer it over the Honda (noise, less maintenance and no petrol are obvious good points), but these are the worst offending design choices and they are particularly annoying because of it's price point and they could have easily been avoided if the designer had been a commercial gardener. This is a great step forward, but if you're on the fence about transitioning from a petrol mower to a battery and haven't already invested in all the other tools, I'd advise waiting for more R&D for future models that iron out these grievances.

I saw one of those beasts at a vendor event. Impressive. Might be a bit of overkill for home use, but then again boys need their toys. Had to laugh at the “unboxing” technique. Why use a knife when you can just tear the cardboard? Whatever you do, DO NOT read the instructions. Just fiddle with it and hope for the best. Good thing there weren’t any ratchet ties or clips holding the blade for transport, or electric lead covers that had to be removed before first use. A puff of smoke or grinding noise would have been entertaining. Great work for a 2.2 metre certified lawn detailer! Keep ‘em coming.
