HW News’ Managing Editor, Mr. Sujit Nair, holds a discussion with Dr. Meeran Chadha Borwankar, a retired Indian Police Service (IPS) officer from the Maharashtra cadre. Dr. Borwankar, who served in various high-ranking positions during her more than three-decade career, reflects on her experiences in her book titled ""Madam Commissioner: The Extraordinary Life of an Indian Police Chief"". She had been actively involved in seeking justice, including petitioning the Supreme Court regarding the release of 11 convicts by the Gujarat government in the Bilkis Bano gangrape case, which took place during the 2002 Gujarat riots. After retiring from service in 2017, Dr. Borwankar held significant roles such as Director General of the National Crime Records Bureau and Commissioner of Police in Pune.

Glorifying Maharashtra Police which i will not agree with at all. I had seen o instance where they just let the buck pass. They are very vulnerable, but in comparison to UP, MP, Bihar yes far better.
