I supported PMB emergence in his first term because I thought he was going to rein in corruption and indiscipline which I felt then as I still do now to be the major challenge facing the nation. My decision was hinged on his past record as a military leader. However, years down the line, he has failed not because the intention is lacking but age has weakened him. You can't beat nature. Age slows people down. It impacts their capacity to function at optimal levels. Tinubu was good in designing vision and identifying talents, but his time has passed. He is not as active as he was when he did all that. It would have made much sense for him to support Osibanjo for the presidency while he sits back in his role as a kingmaker.
