Hello Thronly Dears! He doesn’t perform it because Vitas (original composer and singer of Opera 2) wouldn’t allow it. It is my opinion that his professional ego was bruised by this performance, because Dimash sings the song much better, and sings higher. Vitas is a Russian singer and this song was a huge hit in Eastern Europe, Russia, China etc. So the crowd knew the song, and then they all heard Dimash do it so much better. This was also in the “Dimash has to prove he can actually sing these notes live, because people are claiming he lip syncs” era. I’m not sure he even needs the song in his repertoire. It did its job as his career was taking off ❤

Great reactions guys. The original singer is Russian singer, Vitas, who has a flamboyant style and brassy high note, rather ear-piercing to listen to. I heard his version of the Opera 2, and Dimash’s rendition is much better, so Vitas is just jealous. The second video was not from a year after the Singer show, it was actually from a year before China, notice his hair style. When he arrived in China, someone suggested that he needed a better hairstyle, so that actually helped improve his stage image. I’m glad you guys checked out the full video from the Singer including seeing his father. That was a very sweet moment. He was very home sick. Being in a strange country, not knowing any Chinese, and very little English, and with no family with him and only with a translator to help him communicate… and he was only 22 years old at the time in 2017. Dimash grew up in a close knit 3 generations family home, so to be out on his own for the first time must have been scary. He was very brave. ❤😊

The China competition performance randomly popped up on my recommendations late one night over 4 years ago. I spent the remainder of the night and all the next day searching out everything I could find on him. Since then, a day without Dimash is a day of deprivation to me. He simply sings to my soul. One of my favorites is Elim Menin sung in his native language. It's a beloved song featuring many amazing artists playing traditional instruments. Dimash's profound love of his country shines through. It's on his channel.

There is actually another performance. The first time he publicly performed Samaltau was at the Closing and Award Ceremony of the 6th Silk Road International Film Festival in 2019, a year before the Tokyo Jazz Festival. Although I like all performances, this one is my favorite, probably because it was the first time I’d ever heard this wonderful ethereal song. The traditional instruments, the sounds of wolves howling, the beautiful stage presentation, and Dimash’s amazing voice. It’s also the only version where he ends the song on a lower B2 note. Unfortunately it seems to be the least popular among the 3, but if you haven’t seen this performance, I’d highly recommend it.

This song, Opera 2, was also selected because it was extremely well-known and famous throughout Asia and Europe. Vitas won over 100 awards for this original song. The audience were already familiar with Vitas and the craziness of this piece. Which is why the audience was super-focused, waiting to hear what he would do.

Where did you get that information, please? A woman who worked on the show said the producers asked Dimash to sing Opera 2 because it was very popular in China at the time, and with the high notes he reached with SOS they knew he could do it. The arrangement of course was probably Dimash’s. Please provide me with the link to the video that says Dimash chose all of the songs himself.

I really love all the “I Am Singer” episodes. That is where I discovered Dimash. So thankful you follow him. I would love to see you react to Dimash and TENGRI. They met, when Dimash was in China. Esta canción es del cantante ruso Vitas, que por cierto es muy estirado, carente de sentimientos para cantar segun mi opinión 😅, en fin le prohibió cantar esta y cualquier itra canción suya a Dimash, dijo que por derechos de autor, pero todos sabemos que fue por celos, porque Dimash la canta mejor y le subió dos tonos al original. Antes Dimash hacia covers porque su repertorio era poco, ahora ya no los necesita, tiene tantas canciones originales que un concierto de tres horas y media no son suficientes para escucharlas todas. Dimash chose every song himself and also did all the production. Dimash's musicalty often makes many professionals speechless. One of the people on this showcsaid. His musical knowledge in one so young was astonishing. At the time of recording this entire 13 week run Dimash was 22 years old. ❤ The second video was when Dimash hoped to go to the Eurovision Song Contest in 2017 but Kazakhstan was only approved for the Children's Competition not the adult. Fate had stepped in and thankfully he went to China for "I Am Singer" in 2017. So this TV Show was in 2016 before he appeared in China and he was just 21, and here you can see that Dimash is always game for a laugh 😂❤
