I realized within the first 10 seconds of your video that the differences between the SM58 and V7 wouldn't amount to much in my use-case... But gladly stuck around to listen to your beautiful voice. You rock!
@jordanedwards3193 жыл бұрын
I love the comparison between a 58 and V7 with a Sennheiser t-shirt on. On a more serious note, I've always found 58s to be muddy sounding, too much in the low mids. I prefer the presence and clarity of the V7
@timothysmallaxe3 жыл бұрын
Yes 👍🏼 so muddy I always thought that as well
@jamestheradioman Жыл бұрын
I'm still an SM58 fan. The muddy sound is a mic placement or proximity issue. V7 has a lot of handling noise
@SwedishDude08 Жыл бұрын
@@timothysmallaxe Also depends on your voice. Sm58 sounds muddy on my voice and doesn't cut through the rest of the instruments. However, many people swear by it. So I think the best thing would be to test a couple of mics (people hate this answer).

I've been using Sm58 for years, but now i have switched to the SE v7 - I'm not going back - love the v7.
@NarrowedSound2 жыл бұрын
I work live sound a lot. And after hearing the 58 for years I can safely say the v7 crushes the 58 in a lot of ways. Its in my opinion the perfect live vocal mic for all vocal styles. It kicks butt
@NarrowedSound2 жыл бұрын
To ad to this though... it's shure mic comparison should actually be the beta58 as that's also a super cardioid mic. But I still prefer this one. And the v7 is cheaper.
@GuyMcguy24 Жыл бұрын
Yeah I got to use one last night and the way it handles sibilance is so interesting…. and it somehow manages to have a low end that sounds more pleasant than a 58. Great mic

Never really liked the sm58 for live. I've been in love with the V7 ever since I first heard it. Have the V7 MC2 on my Sennheiser wireless!

v7 with a little more clarity and detail than sm58
@Regular-Person-Guy2 жыл бұрын
Hmm... This is tough. The SM58 sounds much more relaxed, it just sits back in the mix, it's not overly forward in the upper mids like the V7. However, it is true that the SM58 is a little muddy in the low mids, but I would rather deal with that, than the overly hyped top end of the V7.
@jamestheradioman Жыл бұрын
Amen! SM58 vocals are easily EQ'd in post production.

I’m very happy with the SE V7 microphone that I bought from you. It was Amir who suggested this mic to me and I’m glad he did. I used it twice in my shows and it was amazing. The sound quality and the design are superb. Thank you for providing such a great product. I’m also interested in buying some more high-end microphones from you in the future. I hope the price is reasonable and competitive. ❤🎤

SE v7 is the clear winner here.. The less you have to EQ a take, better

@RobVespa11 ай бұрын
Thanks for the video. These are both great microphones, but the SE V7 is like what would happen if the SM58 and SM57 had a better looking baby. I'd choose the V7. Really enjoyed your performance. All the best!
@amperafamily40853 жыл бұрын
V7 has more detail but why sm58 has more pleasing to listen ??
@AndyBaedal Жыл бұрын
Because se58 eliminating the breathing detail more while v7 taking every detail including the breathing almost flat thus making the vocal feel more “busy” to the ear
@jamestheradioman Жыл бұрын
The handling noise on the V7 is significantly higher if you test them properly. Holding both mics firmly and shaking them isn't a real world test. If you just move the mics from left hand to right hand you'll hear more handling noise on the V7.
@RafaelCorellaSuarez9 ай бұрын
Another point Is that the v7 is supercardoid avoiding feedback issues

Thank You for a such detailed review and clearest testing! Very helpful! SE V7 is very nice sounding!

Nice review. The shaking test is not so close to real use case though. V7 seems to bring more information than the sm58.

I think generally I prefer the 58. It's more responsive and more balanced tonally. You say it pops out with more detail when you sing higher (in the chorus). I think it's just harsher in the mid to high frequencies. For me the SM58 wins out here but admittedly it didn't win out by much. At the end of the day, you can EQ either to sound closer to whichever one you prefer. But out the gate the 58 wins for vocals by a little bit. People saying here they don't like the SM58 for live application. I can respect that. I have the very opposite opinion. I really love the SM58 live, at least with my voice. I love singing with it. I'd love the opportunity to try the V7 in a live setting.
@jasonbodden88162 жыл бұрын
So I've since seen a lot of other reviews with this very comparison and the V7 wins out by far to me. It wins out here as well. Not sure why I thought the 58 sounded better 8 months ago lol. The clarity and highs are better on the V7. The 58 sounds a bit muddy in comparison. The general detail is better I think than the 58.
@NarrowedSound2 жыл бұрын
@@jasonbodden8816 I agree. The better comparison though would have been to use the beta 58a as it's a super cardioid also. Between that and this I still prefer this one. But yeah

The problem in Taiwan is: there are too many fake Shure SM58 from China, and I can’t tell the difference from online shopping.. so the best way to avoid hitting the fake product is just to avoid completely that product.. that’s why I turn from SM58 to SE V7..
@Dustedpages22 ай бұрын
Both sound really nice, Id say a toss up. I'm looking at the Shure Ksm8 but 400 bucks wow! I use the sm58 and have no problem with muffle as people call it. I think it depends on your voice. I have more of a tenor voice so warm is what I'm looking for. According to what people are saying the V7 may be too bright for me. Has anyone tried the Shure Ksm8? If so thoughts please. Thanks!

Sir, I am beginner. I want to record my written poetry professionally. In which my line will go in high tone and will also come in low tone. Tell me such a mic and audio interface. So that I can record and mix later. My room is not sound proof. My total budget is $300. But a shopkeeper told me that you cannot do recording with dynamic mic. Please tell me what should I do. Tell me such a mic and audio interface that I will not regret after buying.

V7 more has more nuisance to its character - slightly brighter and easier to cut through a mix with. I particularly like using my V7 on most female voices. V7 reminds me of the sound of the Beta87 (condenser)

Itz 95% difference in price NOT sound-I have sm58 PG58 & beta 58 almost the same because they specs are the same 50-16000 and when they do shootouts on KZbin waist of time because if they dont show the mic NO way of telling sm58, beta58 sennheiser or any EV mics from each other datz why they're in the same price range.
