If you want to be ranked for a specific keyword (like “memory” or “card matching”), because your game falls exactly into this category, is there anything else you can do besides putting “memory” in the keywords/description/subtitle/title?

Getting more ratings eventually? It’s just hard to get new ratings, if the game doesn’t even show up for the keyword what describes the game the best or what people would type in to find such kind of games. And thanks for the great talk - was quite informative! :)

That's right. If you follow the best practices (no repetition, keyword in the name, etc) and you have new ratings that fall in line with what the top results are getting (but ideally more) you should be ranking. If you can't match those new ratings your next best solution is to find related keywords that don't have as much competition at the top, like "memory training" (I'm not sure how relevant that is, just thinking out loud) and optimize for those first to build that momentum.

@@appfigures Okay thanks! :) I just also asked since the term memory is patented by some company in Germany - but then I will try to find some related keywords. I also watched your recent ASO checkup stream and adapted my title and subtitle accordingly - let’s see if I get ranked now - thanks again and keep up with such live streams, they are really helpful as an indie dev 😄👍

Really? Did you get rejected for using it in your metadata?

@@appfigures Yes, they said I either have to show some kind of evidence that I am allowed to use it or otherwise suggested to either exclude the countries where it’s a protected mark or remove the mark from app name, subtitle, app icon, screenshots and previews. So in the keywords it’s allowed but that didn’t seem to help much in my opinion.
