The same can be applied in reverse way. Going early, Maxwell would have been out early game would have been gone. Nothing is foolproof. He did it by taking it deep. Maxwell does it taking it early.

He wasn't injured tho. Plus it wasn't as daunting a task as Maxwell's. Plus it's the first 200 while chasing. Plus he scored 99% of the runs required with 3 wickets left. From 91/7 to 293/7.

Lack of experience from Afghanistan played a part here. If it had been any other big team, Australia would never have won this game after 7 wickets down under 100 runs. We have seen Afghanistan lose many close games against Pakistan. With experience they will learn.

I think you forget that the Afghanistan team beat some really good teams along the way, including Pakistan. You don't win these games with just a lot of luck. ....especially given they have beaten other quality sides as well. I don't think it was inexperience, moreover Maxi's mindset. Taking the game away from Afghanistan with pure brilliance and resilience.

If you are comparing 2023 knock with 1983 that means 1983 is clearly the winner. That was a knock of generation ahead. With the current T20 era and modern day cricketing shots being played, I would rate 1983 better though last night was Maxwell madness.

175 not out from 138 balls was fantastic, and I remember this innings like it was yesterday. At 17/5, we were all thinking it was all over. Kapils innings was great, and he also had an extra 10 overs to play with as back then the maximum overs in an innings was 60 overs. The circumstances were very similar, however given Maxi could hardly stand (as a result of the heat while fielding earlier) makes this innings the greatest. Don't forget Maxi batted against a quality side, with great spinning options. This is evident watching Australia's top order failing to work out the spin and swing. Kapils batting tore the Zimbabwe's attack apart, however the conditions of last night's match was, without a doubt, much more difficult than what confronted Kapil that day. Maxi's innings was by far the best white ball innings the cricketing world has ever witnessed.

@@deltawho8002 I agree to everything. Only bcoz that innings was played 40 years back with different bats, 1 ball, no dew, different field restrictions and most importantly mindset of those days. Maxwell has lots range compared to anyone and now a days there are at least new 10-15 new shots which can easily be explored due to field restrictions.
