"When we as Muslims think about discrimination, we usually focus on external discrimination that are received from non-Muslims. For this film though, we wanted to focus on internal discrimination -- discrimination that Muslims have against each other. The point of focus for this concept was the hijjab, and the different prejudices revolving around Muslim girls who do wear the hijjab and Muslim girls who do not. It is very important to clarify that we are not stating a position on the hijjab, or creating a non-hijabbi vs. hijabbi atmosphere, but more so trying to highlight how quickly Muslim girls are judged by their outer appearances. We hope that this movie will spark conversation and discussion about the various discriminations that occur within our own muslim communities, hopefully starting a movement to get rid of them inshAllah. It seems as we judge and discriminate, we dim the light of Allah that all of us are seeking, causing schisms in our communities that we could do without."

I'm not Muslim but all of the Muslims I have met have been very nice and open minded. They haven't gotten offended when I asked questions because they wanted to help me learn and understand Islam and what it means to them to be Muslim.

logical fruit Don't judge an entire religion because of a few people. I live about 15 minutes from a mosque and a "Muslim area" as you call it and yes I've gotten dirty looks when I've gone into that area but only from the older men who didn't know me. I have even met the Imam and even though I wasn't wearing a head covering and wasn't wearing super modest clothes he was still extremely respectful. Like I said, all of the Muslims that I have come in contact with have been nice, kind, polite, and helpful. I even had a Muslim man help get something off a shelf I couldn't reach in a store and later on his family and him helped me put my groceries in my car. I still talk to them and just recently got invited to the wedding of his oldest daughter.

I'm not a Muslim but I really liked this video, and I thought the message was really beautiful. It probably isn't easy for Muslim woman been criticized from both angles (for wearing the hijab or not to wear it) from both their religious peers (brothers and sisters) and non-muslims. Have strength, and I hope your religion guides you to your peace and happiness and to what you preserve to the Creator because in the end it's your personal connection that really matters, and your heart.

John Ford you give me hope, and i thank you dearly for it. i only wish that you would search for truth. and i know i sound like just another preacher. but i cry out for people like. i have truly shed a tear for you. because i know of your good hearts. i know there are people with good hearts. but without allah, you are still all in big trouble. i dont say it to scare you, i dont say it because i want to be right, i say it because i truly want every good person to see the light we muslims have seen. if you want to talk to me, discuss things with me, have questions about our existance. i will be here for you. i plead, i beg, i cry, so that we may all share in this light, this truth, this inevidability that is islam. love, wisdom, and peace is wished upon you my friend. may god guide us all

nasy Love is a powerful force, and we do things out of love. Sometimes we do it wrongly, in the process hurting the people one feels we are trying to help. I appreciate your reply, and I appreciate the love you have shown to me as well. I have read your beautiful Qu'ran, I have prayed in your Mosques and I have talked with your imams as well among other Muslims. I think you have a very beautiful religion, capable of bringing greatness to people but I'm sorry that Islam is not for me. Maybe one day, Insh'Allah, Islam will be for me, but until that day I just give my respect, love and care to all people, Muslim and Non-Muslim alike for all are worthy of love and compassion especially in a world such as our own.

John Ford you are an examplary person. i have great respect for you and your kind heart. i really hope one day soon, you will accept islam. i just want to tell you, that if you think of allah as a fact, and not fiction. if you think the prophets are a fact, and not fiction. i urge you, to take the shahada. even if you dont want to pray, even if you dont want to go to mosque, even if you dont want to follow the rules of islam. if you just take the shahada, with certainty in your heart, you will at least enter heaven. if you just testify, that you believe in love, that you believe in your soul, that you believe in your god. then you will one day enter heaven, and not be of those who will enter eternall hellfire. even amongst us muslims, there will be much who will get purified in hell, but anyone who worships god and god alone. will eventually enter heaven. so i urge you, you dont have to live like a muslim, you dont have to pray 5 times a day. as long as you testify that you believe in god, and his message, then you will be granted heaven eventually inshallah. may god guide your soul, to the only religion accepted in the face of god.

Regardless we must be treated the same at any costs and not to feel differently.Peope have their reasons. This video mashallah portraits this very well.Jazakallah for this video it gives a powerful message.❤️❤️

+Tarlok Singh if I go to 1 person and put earphones in with music, I will get a sin for that ofc. if I go to 100 people and put earphones in each one of them with music playing I will also get a sin. let's say music is a minor sin. so for the one person I get a minor sin. but then I repeat it, repeat it and repeat it. force 100 people to listen, will it still be a minor sin? no.. repeated minor sins are major. and it is the same case for this because each person comes with good intentions, to listen to reminder but u have tricked them and forced them to listen to music even if it's for one second. ultimately, as the views increase u are repeating the sin because u know its haram yet u keep it up so you will continue sinning. don't try divert the matter and falsely refute me. You are comitting a major sin! and u publicised ur sin in front of thousands, I have to comment so people don't watch the full thing so they don't listen to music. remember thst the publicised sins are the sins thst won't be forgiven. So delete it akhi don't let ur arrogance and strive for fame in the dunya fool u. don't let shaytaan's whispers get to you.

They never made me feel like I was less of a Muslim for not wearinf a hijab, but they congratulated me when I started wearing it on my own. the hijab is not as important in Islam as not lying, praying, believing, not stealing etc. The hijab is more of a symbol and in my opinion it is a choice it is not even in the 5 pillars of Islam so really u can decide if you was to wear it or not and if other Muslims judge you than they are the one that not following Allah's words because if you have read the qauran you know judging is very frowned upon.

I love this video because as a born muslim i am living in a household that is not muslim and i go to a school that doesn't allow hijab and the hijabis that walk around judge me the same exact way but i pray my 5 prayers, i fast and so on. It hurts to not be accepted by your own religion. Thank you for this video. I can definitely relate.

I think it's a shame how there is no escaping discrimination. There are things that are supposed to unite people but it doesn't. This video was one example. To be honest, I had no clue that Muslims that don't wear the headscarf are discriminated against. In the end we all end up rotting away in the ground, so unless someone's decisions in some way causes harm to themselves or others, what do you care about how they choose to dress, their religion etc.?

i am not tryin' to act like Sheikh or something but when Islam told women to wear hijab it's because Islam cares about them maybe before thinking about judging we should think about why Islam told women to wear hijab it's to save women pureness , Islam is tryin' to tell you how beautiful you are in the inside , it's better to show the best in you only for someone who you think deserves it , tho the woman who doesn't wear hijab is still Muslim and no body has the right to judge her or to tell her she is not Muslim , god bless everyone did this video it's awesome like it

I'm an atheist and I really love the message in this video. I had a similar situation like this happen in my school, but the people arguing were best friends, one of them was questioning why the other didn't wear a headscarf. The one who didn't, said that she didn't feel ready yet to wear one while the other one was insisting that a "real" Muslim must wear one. I personally agreed with the one who said that she didn't feel ready yet because being a muslim doesn't require you to wear a scarf. It requires faith instead.

Assalamu Alaikum Wa Rhamatullahi Wa Barakatu. Very relevant. Great job, great message. As a revert of almost 40years, I have no issues with the commands of Allah Supannah Wa T'ala, rather my problems are those of the Ummah in general. We know that the Quran and the Sunnah are the ultimate TRUTH. However, our challenges are many. Among those challenges are as stated in the film; we are all on different levels of iman, taqwa, knowledge, commitment. family support, financial resources, etc.. Case in point. I accepted Islam in 1977 and began wearing hijab. at the outset. I was divorced, in school, and a single mother with one daughter. I married a Muslim, he fathered a child and divorced me all within a year. I had no money, no job and no support from the Muslim community or my family. I was not able to find work, largely due to the hijab. I subsequently removed my hijab in order to work and support myself and my two daughters. Yes, Islam is a complete system, a way of life. If individuals and communities oppress or deny the rights of a single Muslim, all of us will at sometime experience that oppression, My rights as a Muslima were acknowledged and were not taken seriously. I was shunned by the Muslims because I removed my hijab. However not a single community member offered me a penny, a grain of rice, a cup of tea or salaams. So yes, Allah Supahhah W' Tala has ordained hijab for the Muslimah and he has also commanded the Ummah to care for the orphans, widows and the needy. It is a RIGHT and a DUTY; binding on ALL according to the Quran and the Sunnah, know that their individual choices affect the entire body. My choice to remove the hijab in order to support myself and my children was not a choice at all. What was my option when the Muslims refused me and my children our RIGHTS? Fear Allah for the RIGHTS of Women...We all will be judged according to our deeds and our intentions. Please make a short film about this scenario. Our sisters are being oppressd on every level. There is no veil between Allah and the dua of the oppressed...Fear Allah and Do not die except in a state of Islam.

Yes, hijab is fard (obligatory). No, wearing hijab does NOT necessarily make you better than a non-hijabi. Yes, interior Imaan (faith) is more important than external Imaan. No, you cannot be the best Muslimah without wearing hijab (but you can still be a pretty good Muslimah without it) Remember, there is such a thing as ho-jabis (hijabis that smoke and/or flirt with guys). So hijab is not the end-all sign of a good Muslimah.

+moester101 you're right and I'm with you, but still hijab is a fard so they HAVE to wear it , if they don't that's a sin. But that doesn't make hijabis better than them because we can't judge people on their outer appearance. :)

My mother did not wear hijab for a long time when she became muslim over 30 years ago and slowly she transitioned into hijab. For my beloved sisters out there reading these posts, please know that for a muslim man, you are doing us men a huge favor when you cover up. We really stuggle in this society as men trying to guard our eyes from harram. Most of the muslim women have no idea what we face just leaving our homes and going to the grocery store. It doesn't help when we have to go to the masjid and the sisters are dressed improperly. Don't think you're doing us a favor by uncovering. This really hurts us even though it is alluring. Of course we like good looking women but we as muslim men want what is in the hereafter more than this life. Sisters, please cover and guard your modesty for the sake of Allah. I love you all for the sake of Allah.

***** The problem is that American society is so sexually charged and we are taught or at least I was exposed to many sexual songs and images as a child in the public school system. So now when the average man see's a naked woman in society, he doesn't get aroused. Because he's been sexually desensitized. That's not natural. I respect that you respect my islamic stance but the problem is not that you don't understand us, you're not understanding islam. The question is if you're a woman and I'm assuming that you are, then wouldn't you want your husband to be aroused just by him seeing your hair? Wouldn't you want to be alluring to the one you love just from showing him a little bit of beauty? So this is one wisdom of protecting our vision from nudity. Another thing is when a muslim husband goes home to his wife and he knows she's been covered up all day and he's the only one who has seen her beauty all day. Many muslim men will admit that it is truly something special and makes us feel like men vs. everyone getting to get a piece of eye candy all day. I've been in relationships in my non-muslim past and it really makes the relationship feel cheap when your woman goes out and everyone gets to take a look at her and whistle at her or make sexual gestures. Everyone knows that creates problems in relationships.

Ismail Scott Also yes I have a mother and sisters. None of my sisters practice islam sadly to say. It is permitted for men to see mother and sister family members without hijab. Of course muslim men think of sex, we're also human just like anyone but we're commanded to take protective measures by lowering our gaze so as to keep our hearts pure and to protect ourselves from indulging in more forbidden matters. The women have also been commanded to lower their gaze from the opposite gender who they're not married to as well so as not to fall into temptation.

Ismail Scott You seem like a genuine person but just for your information, I grew up in American society and I've grown up in a muslim household and also lived as a non-muslim having let go of my islamic upbringing and I also saw the negative results of leaving islamic guidance. As muslims we want non-muslims to see the light of islam and to become successful by following islam, not to make life difficult. We make life difficult when we think we know better than Our Creator who has fashioned us. (ALLAH) Allah wants good for us and wants us to be successful in this life and the next life and for that reason he sent guidance, because we as human beings have to be taught right from wrong. The quran is our guidance and the Prophet Muhummad Salallah hu alai salam is our human example of how to live. He said "He came to perfect good manners".

Ismail Scott Also, did you know that women in western society were considered provocative with jeans and t-shirt just 50-60 years ago? I used to personal train an elderly woman who used to be a stripper and she said nudity in her time as a stripper was shorts and t-shirt. So that tells us the we have truly been desensitized in america. This brings out our animalistic carnal desires when we should strive to be intellectual and sophisticated beings that god created us to be. We're not just animals like the ones in the wild with no intellect. We're more advanced than that.
@ismailscott9057

***** Ok. Then that explains a lot. Many foreigners have a blurred reality of what islam really is and I feel bad that this is your experience with islam. Many of the foreigners have been under tyrant rule and a whole lot of baggage comes with that. I'm a western like you and I don't go out disrespecting women. Islam acknowledges that husband and wife are also there for sexual needs as well. We're not monks or nuns. We don't believe westerners should be disrespected because of their customs although we don't like some of them or agree with them. We just simply refrain from following them just as non-muslim westerners wouldn't follow our islamic practices or like ours. I hope you don't think I'm rude. I just hope you see the difference between ignorant muslims and islam as a way of life. Every muslim man is different just as non-muslim men as to what would arouse them. I don't know. It really takes a man to understand a mans physiological way of thinking be he muslim or non-muslim. Women will never understand that.

Hey guys. Sorry if my English is bad. I recently read a book. And in the end of the story, I just realized, what the author said was true. And... to tell the true, I liked the main character. The girl was christian, she tried to kill herself, and the guy, the doctor she has to go for psychotherapy is Muslim. It happens they fall for each other. He told her: " I don't want you to call God from this moment Allah, and I don't ask you to live by Mohamed s teaching, if Jesus is more personal to you. You should wear what you want. I don t want you to feel imprisoned beside me. Just, accept me as I am. The only one thing, that I want from you - even if this relationship wont go well, is to keep those four promises, I asked for." You should read the book if there will be in English edition.

HOMIE shouldn't even be walking free mixing with females I know its just a film but there are other pathways that are incorrect or insincere when it comes to Islamic practices in this film as well but great job on bringing light to judging people

Loved it. Islam is exactly about he point this film is trying to convey to everyone who judges. I have epilepsy, and when some Muslims see me at the mall eating or drinking, they ask me, why aren't you fasting like you're supposed to. Because they see me with my wife( who is actually an American convert wearing the hijab).Number 1: because I'm sitting with a Muslim, does not automatically make me one.Number 2: how do you know I don't have a reason that prevents me from fasting.Number 3, which really should be number one , who are you to judge me? What I do or don't do, is between Allah(swt) and me.

Dear Friends, Muslims and Non-Muslims, whatever religion you have, or How much religious you are. If you are enough nice and kind, then why do you fall down from the step1 of criticizing the religion. It is a religion, if you don't like it, don't say bad. First correct yourself. It is indeed a message; to whomever it concerns; You remain as a human being not the racist.
