I was a teen metal head at this time. About 30 years later I watched him on The Apprentice and ended up rooting for him, really liking and appreciating who he was as a person. Then explored Culture Club and his solo stuff more (and Crying Game, etc) and discovered that he was/is way-way more talented than he was ever given credit for. Getting his audiobook for Xmas this year, was waiting for him to do one for years. He's a unique and very talented gem.

Lyrical irony! Sting, the artist, singing about “the bitter sting of tears” layers an unintentional pun on his name with the emotional weight of the phrase. Whether it was deliberate or not, it adds a clever twist to the line.

And Freddie Mercury????

This is why I never cared for Geldof. Saying things like the grain silos are overflowing and it’s a “crime” that “they” don’t immediate release it for famine relief. Meanwhile he’s a rich dude himself and wearing expensive clothing. I’m sure his fridge and pantry are full. He wants other people to give up their’s but not he won’t give up his. Just another elitist.
