I’m glad they don’t have a Walmart in Panama City. !!! When you have huge gigantic stores like a Walmart it sometimes puts the little mom and pop groceries out of business and other stores like hardware etc. out of business also. And all the mom and pop stores may cost sometimes more than Walmart in the United States but mom and pop stores are so much more friendly usually and the people are more willing to help and knowledgeable about the items there also it’s smaller and you don’t feel overwhelmed how many products are on the shelves or you’re tempted to buy more in one of those huge Walmarts

@@Liveandinvestoverseas Hey, I saw some of your videos now. The first you kept saying “here” and I realized you couldn’t be every place you spoke about all at the same time. Now you are trying to change and say “there.” Kinda fun to hear you!! I wonder if you recommend any of the tours some offer to know Panama? I was “there” 20 years ago. The ocean off Panama City coast was really filthy. I wonder what they did to clean it up?? You know so much, you are a treasure! Thanks a bunch!! ❤

Well too bad about the litter!! Maybe some concerned citizens and ex-pats could organize clubs to help collect litter and get knowledge out among the other people that it just makes the landscape and city much more beautiful as well as the ecology and the planet and then animals won’t be eating litter by accident. Or some turtles and birds even get strangled by some of the litter.

Thanks for the great video! Quick question…..you mentioned that the cost of living is higher in Panama City, I would certainly gather that, but what city/town on the interior would you recommend living in for cost, convenience, modernization etc etc….. Thanks in advance!

I hope I’m not overstepping, but we just went on a scouting month in May in Boquete, David, Volcano, Dolega, and the surrounding cities. From our ,o the long experience the high cost comes in the form of buying American brand products. In Panama they are exports so you pay a premium. Make a list of your must have product’s ingredients in Spanish and find a comparison item to your like. For instance a large bag of breaded chicken tenders were $3.85. Local brand in Super Baru which is a popular grocery store in Boquete. Coffee shops have great prices, half of what Starbucks charge. Internet was fabulous in Boquete. Bad rain might interrupt electricity for a hot minute then it’s back on. The banks are high on security. This is my two cents worth. Have a good day.

In Volcan, Boquete, and the highlands a big savings is you dont need heating nor AC. It saves a ton. Rents and many things are cheaper in the interior. I have an apartment available in Volcan. My email is in the about section of my channel.

Yes, I still live in Paris, France. There were many reasons I moved here, the primary being that I have loved Paris since I lived here as a teen and have always wanted to get back here… but more practically speaking, I wanted to start a family but Zika is a problem in Latin America, so we were waiting to move out of Panama to get pregnant... If I had to tie it down to one single reason, though, I’d say it’s for the art. I love the art and history in Europe, and you just don’t get that in Panama. -Kat

Me too ! Having a Walmart for example usually eliminates the mom and pop groceries and the mom and pop hardware stores etc. and even though mom and pop stores might be a little more expensive the people are so helpful and have time to answer your questions more than the service people in Walmart.

The information on Panama is very helpful and realistic about what to expect moving to Panama so I am curious, why did you move to France? Also, with the climate changes, is France in a drought? Living where there is a weather cycle that includes rain is important nowadays.

I’m retired and moving to Panama and I don’t intend to buy a car. My hope is that I can get to anywhere I need to go using Uber or public transportation. Is this unrealistic?
@Liveandinvestoverseas
@Liveandinvestoverseas 2 жыл бұрын
Hi GodzRod, Great to hear you'll be relocating to Panama! No, it's definitely not unrealistic, Panama has an excellent transportation system. If you are in the city you have access to public transportation which includes MetroBus, metro, Uber, InDriver, and regular taxi cabs. In the rural areas you have the coasters, taxis, Uber, and InDriver as well, all of which are reliable ways of getting around in Panama.
