I've been trimming my beard like that for over 50 years now. And you're absolutely right! If you get the lines "right" in the early stages of growing, it'll make your beard grow in very nicely! And it doesn't matter what kind of "look" you're wanting, scruffy, neat, full, go tee, handlebar mustache, or whatever, get those lines right in the early stages and it'll grow in and look great!
@livebearded Жыл бұрын
Absolutely my man, we couldn't agree more!

I don't do a neckline anymore, because my beard is very long. But when I did, a better way to trim that neckline (in my opinion and in my experience) is to give yourself a double-chin by pulling your chin into your neck. Where you see the line from the double-chin where the bottom skin of the double-chin ends, that's your line. It's more precise that way, as opposed to sort of guessing like in this video. If you have a natural double-chin, because you are fat, then you're all set.
@Jim_L2 жыл бұрын
@@benjamindavis4974 Unfortunately, you're wrong on this. The "double-chin" technique works like a charm. There's no guess work involved. You easily see the line where the double-chin ends, and that's where you put the shaving cream and shave. Easy-peasy.
@Jim_L2 жыл бұрын
@@benjamindavis4974 Hey, at the end of the day, if that's what you like, then that's really all that counts. I mean, truthfully, there's no real right way. There are no legal documents on any of this. 😀

Can confirm after trimming I tried to tuck in my neck and my double chin lined up nearly perfectly with it. Just a little higher up.
@ShinyFlakesShinyFlakes3 ай бұрын
Do you shave just where the double chin ends or u actually shave where the double chin line is?
@Jim_L3 ай бұрын
@@ShinyFlakesShinyFlakes It'd be best to be able to show you, as opposed to trying to write about it. But you shave where the line is. It's best to shave at the line or EVER-SO-SLIGHTLY below the line. You don't want any of that double-chin exposed. You want the beard hair covering every bit of that double chin.

Great advice been wanting to grow a lighter beard - non hipster type well trimmed - thanks for this! How do you deal with close family and friends not liking it? Always find it hard when someone doesn't like it ''a person close to you'' I know it's confidence but people close who are not supportive still have an influence - especially when your trying something new or different.

I bought a 60e trimmer and it is horrible. Keeps getting caught. Even left me with a patch. Received my first shavette today! Looking to get a SR in the near future! Nice vid!

Lookin good! Lookin good! It's amazing how facial hair or there lack of changes your look. How long was your beard before you shaved it off, did you ever measure it?
@livebearded2 жыл бұрын
Im not sure if Spence ever measured it but it was definitely between 4-6 inches!

Typically we would recommend either trimming those hairs back shorter or using a blow dryer after the shower to help straighten them out! When I have a longer beard, I use a blow dryer every morning to help straighten the curlier hairs!

I always seem to get my neckline wrong. It never quite looks right which usually results in me shaving it all off after several months of growth and then starting all over again. 🙄
@livebearded2 жыл бұрын
trimming your own beard can definitely be a bit daunting! Less is more when doing trims. My father always told me growing up, you want to shape the neckline along the same line that you would slit someones throat 😂 as graphic as that may sound, it helps. You want the line to be right above the adams apple and keep an even swoop going up both sides to the ear!
