THis makes me feel so much better; my daughter is a junior in high school and there is pressure for her to learn to drive. We actually had a neighbor approach me about it and it's not her kid. As a parent, EVERYONE ELSE seems to have an opinion. Let's just say it's tough being a parent these days. Yep, and the grandparents baby the grandkids...and I'm like when I was his/her age you NEVER let me get away with that...and they look at me like I'm lying...when it comes to the grandkids==you can do whatever you want....

Kim T this must be universal because it’s so true...
@karaa75955 жыл бұрын
Kim T your parents sound like they may have narcissistic personality disorder. As grandparents do they go out of their way to undermine your authority, tell you how you should/should not parent and then rewrite your personal history by denying your memories as being true and then informing you of "what REALLY happened"? If so, something to look into. Because they use the grandkids as supply for their narcissism.

Then when I was good enough, he let me drive around in the actual roads with traffic all around me. I’m glad he did that! Now I can drive stick shift cars as well as automatic. But I hated learning parallel parking. I still dread parallel parking.

Can definitely relate to the “dad driving lessons.” Being the youngest child, I would see the effects of my older siblings’ lessons with our father upon their return (🤬 😤 😭). Although I took drivers ed in high school (& was pretty good I thot 😊), I didn’t want to practice with my dad. Went ONE TIME with my mom and almost got into an accident bcuz of her impatience. And that is why I don’t have my drivers license today...END OF STORY! 🤗

My mother taught me how to parallel park at my high school parking lot on Saturday afternoon. I was pulled over by a Philly cop. I was 15 and my birthday wasn't for another month. I was driving illegally but my mom convinced the cop not to ticket us as I was in a school parking lot (empty of all cars) on a Saturday. How's that for smooth talking?
@annamarieraven19915 жыл бұрын
Huh. When I was a teen the cops encouraged this as long as the lot was empty. Wonder if the cop really cared or if he just wanted to have fun freaking out a kid.
