I thank myself for not choosing banks as career which i was considering once. I am in IT now, work here is also tough but atleast i don't need to sell credit cards and insurance to others. I see many bank employees standing outside my IT office, convincing people to buy their credit card and most of them keep rejecting them. Earlier i used to think that they were just contractors or third party but i was shocked to learn that they were bank employees. I think if you clear such a prestigious exams like IBPS and SBI than you should not be one to sell these cards.

These Mint people already know the reasons yet need comments to support their findings. So here it is- 1) Public sector on a whole in last 3-5 years has had only retirements and no job vacancies. This exposes govt.s claims of creating jobs. Mergers made things worse as explained in the video. Plus the onus of work lies on these reduced no. of employees with third class technological support courtesy relying on L1 bidding!!! N due to pressure of reducing operational cost by govt., companies cannot employ or benefit these employees in excess while work hours have eaten up even Saturdays and Sundays!! There have been instances where offices were asked to remain open even on 2nd October with NO EXTRA COMPENSATION or Compensatory Holiday!! No labour laws in this Country!! 2) Private sector/banks has additional pressure of reducing operational costs with very less salaries and the onus of bringing bancassurance, credit cards, deposits and what not with never ending work hours!! And over years it is a norm in private sector to switch to increase ur salary package.

@anonymous3433

@@ourworld-vc9et it's clearly evident that you know nothing about banks. Most of the banks be it public sector banks or private sector banks, they work beyond 5pm after closing the gate at the very least till 8pm sometime upto 9pm / 9:30pm. Actual banking works starts after 5pm file clearance, loan sanction, compliance etc all are done after 5pm. Branches with footfall of 250-300+ vouchers works beyond 8:30pm. Most of the bankers do 10/11hr shift everyday. Sometimes they also even work on public holidays that too without any compensation.

You have very poor industry knowledge especially PSBs. Hence your report is misleading. You don't have simple knowledge that post NPS, PSB employees actually themselves finance their pensions with no fixed pension guarantee the lure of OPS has vanished. Secondly PSBs transfer their officers to semi urban & rural areas. This is not what Professionally qualified officer employees viz CA, MBA, Btech, MCA will accept. Since the private sector Banks offers much higher pay packages to specialist roles like Credit, forex, IT, Risk, legal & compliance.

Pvt Sector banks today are not engaged in banking, they are brokers more than banks. Employees are pressurised to sale products (MF and Insurance )not suitable for customers but earn more income to banks. Salary for fronk desk and sales teams are earned through AMU's and Insurance Co's banks and employees work free for banks. Exploitation and very toxic work culture leads to attrition in pvt banks. Pvt banks are very bad paymasters for the front desk employees as compared to the financial risk and customer abuse faced by pvt bank employees this is also another reason gor attrition.

Still lot of automation required in banks, we do not disgruntled employees at banks especially Sarkari Government banks, instead have good call centre employees, monitor their calls , and give them knowledge and training so that more than 90 % Customer going to call centre asking for customer care personal should be available fast and not long queues in answering machine, please stop answering machines and use human beings, answering machines waste lot of our time

The govt should free PSU banks and privatize them to improve efficiency and accountability. Job security in govt sector is the root cause of all corruption, inefficiency and lack of accountability. The day govt stops being employer and removes job security from all it's depts India will rise in global arena. Right now even a peon will have the confidence that nobody can touch even his hair, no fear of consequences of wrong doing, no accountability on performance or deliverables. Public sector is the bane of India.

At least , Govt of India should reduce the retirement age from 60 years to 55 years. That will bring about a welcome change.

@@robindscarlet9805 PSU banks follow government rules and regulations for appointment and maintenance of the man power. Termination of manpower is not so easy as compared to the most private sector. Average age of joining is around 25 years. Based on service, salary increases. Reduction of retirement age is a good option from the perspective of financial / salary outgo .

I mean psb's profit is at all time high right now , not a single public sector bank is under loss, so don't think govt will loose it's cash cow , and tbh psb employees are highly knowledgeable because of the competition they faced before selection and the curriculum and rigorous training after selection
