What a sweet deal! This video really answered a lot of questions I had about the boxes. Great job explaining and showing how they go together! Have a great day Brother.

Thanks! I've made boxes out of 1x12 before, but with the $ of lumber, the precut boxes are no more.

I love the projects you get into. The most interesting thing to me was everything was coated with bee wax. Got a few traps to clean. Been lazy about it this year. Keep the bee videos coming.

I have most of my traps pressure washed, but need to do a lot of maintenance on them. I want to go to the rendezvous, but gas prices might keep me at home. Thanks for watching Tim!

Great video, thank you. I have pretty much the same one, but different brand name (THXBEES). I appreciate the demonstration as the instructions were very vague. I'm not sure where to place the Entrance reducer. Do I block off the entire entrance so only the whole is accessible, or do I leave a gap?
@LiveMoreOutdoors
@LiveMoreOutdoors 9 ай бұрын
The entrance reducer goes in so only one of the small holes is open. I only use them in the winter or for a weak hive. Once a hive builds up population, I remove them. Thanks for watching!

Do you secure the entrance reducer or does it just stay there a little loose?

They are usually a little snug, but if not, the bees will propolis them snug.

What size crown staples are you using there? I am literally the worst at keeping nails straight and I ha e a Brad nailer but have heard a lot of people say not to use Brad nails because they don't hold good enough when you start pulling on propolised frames but a lot of people recommend crown staplers so I was going to pick up a crown stapler but I'm not sure what size to use or what size staples to throw in it.
@LiveMoreOutdoors
@LiveMoreOutdoors 2 жыл бұрын
They are 1/4” by 1 1/4” long. You can pick up an inexpensive crown stapler at harbor freight for @ $40. They do hold a lot better than Brad nails, but use glue as well. That adds a lot of strength. Thanks for watching!

@@LiveMoreOutdoors I always use glue on any wood project I'm working on definitely will be using it on my frames as well. Thanks for the quick response there I'm definitely going to pick up a stapler next time I go tool shopping and now I know the right size staples that it should be able to accommodate for stapling frames together.

The panels with name should be on the 2 fronts of the wide boxes, not the front 'and' back of one.

@@LiveMoreOutdoors No, just saying 😅... I'm a n00b and the #BeeCastle hives now come pre-assembled (well mine did)... the frames were 💩 but I managed. Ironically, the only thing I can't seem to figure out is how the entrance reducer fits 🥴 And you skipped it 😩 Don't mind my whining 😂

I don't think Bee Castle sells them assembled, but others do. If you're interested, check out Mann Lake. An assembled hive with 2 deeps and 2 mediums runs about $350.

I really enjoyed your video. May I ask you a few things. Please go slower. You are obvious an experienced beekeeper and you know what you are doing. I don't even know how to use a screwdriver let alone a drill. Tell your audience its super important to make sure all the handles face the same direction. I had to go out and buy a staple gun. The staples they sold me didn't fit the gun back to the store. The new staples they sold me fit the gun. I used the brand of glue recommended and the staple gun. Waited an hour for the glue to dry, came back picked up my frame and it fell apart in my hand. The staples were too short to go through all of the wood. There are so many small details that new beekeepers don't know and experienced beekeepers forget that. And when you say "you really can't screw this up" oh you would be so surprised to see how screwed up it could be. Thanks again for your video and keep em comping. BTW, I too am loving my BeeCastle hive so far. Tomorrow will be day 3 in trying to get it fully built.

I guess I should know better because every time I watch a tutorial on computers/tech, I feel the same way LOL! I have to watch it several times and try it several times before I figure it out. I need to never assume that others just "know" what I'm talking about. Hope you enjoy your bees! Thanks so much for watching. Have a great day.
