I live in Scottsdale and have two bloodhounds. I have off grid land in the White Mountains. One pitch black night I got a little lost when I couldn't find my tracks. Once Cooper picked up our tracks, he took us straight home!!!!

Wow that's amazing. I'm on my 3rd rescue Bloodhound, he is near;y 3, I would love to do some tracking work with but I have to start with basic training and obedience first. He's like a lunatic lol

What would be interesting is if you had someone walk with the news guy, have them split up and see if the dog still finds the news guy.

Basset hounds have good noses too but they are better in public places because they appear less threatening.

Half Orc Monk I love my bloodhounds but they do want to cuddle everyone that passes I don’t think they have a clue how big they really are lol 😂

Agree! You can't go out in public with your bloodhound without every second person crossing you by will give the dog a hug😅

What would be interesting is if you had someone walk with the news guy, have them split up and see if the dog still finds the news guy. That way, it would show the dog was after his particular scent rather than just the scent of someone who’d recently been through there. I’m not questioning that the dog can do it, I’d just like to see it.

It doesn't matter if other people come and go and cross the path of the bloodhound. They lock unto one and only one scent.

Bloodhounds take an incredible amount to time and money, make sure you do your homework, one of the reasons why so many Bloodhounds end up in rescue. The average Bloodhound gains about 10 lbs a month, can't navigate stairs safely until about the age of 1 and a good reputable Bloodhound Breeder will do their best to make sure you do not work/ over walk/over run the dog until its growth plates have formed/ closed.

@@videocruzer Isn't it a problem with all big dog breeds? We have had Great Danes before and its sounds very familiar.

The comment,that,they won't attack is not true. Check out Camden County Sheriff's Bloodhounds! The dogs know the difference between when they're helping an innocently lost or endangered person & criminal! They are not pushover!

Bloodhounds typically do not bite. It's a very rare exception that will and those that will bite are a liability. I've had the breed since 1990.

My bloodhound is super protective of our property.. and yes they will attack. She has bite three people. I can put her on a lead and take her anywhere with no problems.

blastman8888 agreed we live in North Yorkshire in Britain nice and cool I think the dessert is cruel with that thick coat to have to track

@@lindairvine7679 I've had Bloodhounds since 1990, they do quite well in the heat in Phoenix as long as their feet are protected. Their coat thins down in the Summer, they lose most of the undercoat.
@ribitt065 жыл бұрын
blastman8888 You'd be very surprised. I've owned, showed and worked Bloodhounds since 1990. They did as well here in Phoenix as they did in Michigan (lived there 10 years and the humidity is just as much of an issue).
