Alex Pickering in my opinion... perhaps it started as a social networking site but with the growth/developments in AI. it was easily adaptable to gather vast amounts of data. AI requires vast amounts of data to refine the algorithms. I don't see this as being anything new or anything particularly different to what Google did with the introduction of Google ads and using search history and gmail content to target ads. if it's in a pc that data is available to anyone.
@iwillnotcomply22306 жыл бұрын
III Facebook gathers groups info about left, right, 2A, law abiding, criminal, online purchase info, hours of activity, all your pictures, email, prepping, anti gun, sheep, libtards, and this list goes on and on. Anything on your computer, what sites you go to, where you shop and what you buy. There is zero privacy and google tracks your cell phone whether you have a google account or not, where you go, what you buy, what you text, absolutely everything. A computer and a cell phone are the two most dangerous items to own and use.

That's why I said "in many cases." Obviously a CEO can't know all the ins and outs of a massive tech company nor should we expect them to. But that is another reason why there should be a more equal distribution of power within corporations like Facebook. Zuckerberg basically has king-like powers.
@den-yimmoli79836 жыл бұрын
@Clay Robert What Zuck means by that is that the data is there but they'd have to run algo to find the specific information the senators want found. This is not manual filing. Data has to be parsed from a repository sitting there away from probing human eyes ... and it takes running code to get the outcome. BTW, people who deal with data don't answer in suppositions or maybes but in absolute data backed fact.

It's amazing how the things that we weren't supposed to do then or now the things that we do now. The biggest example of that is Uber. In the 2000 we were told don't meet people on the internet and don't get in strange people's cars. Now we are encouraged to get in the cars of strange people that we meet on the internet. What is very troubling to me and always has been is that Facebook should be regulated because of the serious threat it holds against all of our security, privacy and our freedom of speech. Same with the internet. Why are we all so easily convinced that all this access and convenience is so great for all of us? The fact it took this security breach to have this discussion disgusts me. The wake up call should have been the first time some child was preyed upon, or someones identity stolen or a suicide of a teen that was committed due to bullying via social media. People wake up, we need to protect our children, our rights, our freedom, not to be influenced by propaganda. We all have to take responsibility for allowing this to get out of control. We have to demand some form of regulation and especially laws that protect our children when it comes to the internet and digital social platforms. Can we all take back our privacy again? I had to ask myself is it really worth the risk to my rights using social media, the answer is NO. These platforms are really not about us keeping in touch with loved ones, its about money and influencing our views and consumer habits. It should be no surprise that advertisers or powerful entities are invested in tracking our data for their gain whether it be financial or political. What is so surprising to me is that so many people are okay with this. It does matter , even if you think what you post is boring or of no relevance, it is being watched and kept track of. Did we all forget what is at stake here, like in the book 1982 or what happened during WWII? We have a personal responsibility not advertise every detail of our lives and our children's lives , it just blindly gives access to anyone or anything that could take advantage of that. We have to demand that laws need to be written to protect all of us. I make no apology to say I do not trust Facebook and Mark Zuckerberg to make sure that platform is secure, it gives them too much power. We have to be the change. And we have to STOP using the excuse that Facebook or other media are the only way to keep in touch with loved ones. We can still call our people, visit them or mail a letter. At least there is a law that says only the person it is mailed to can open it. Don't we want the same for the internet or media platforms like Facebook? I truly hope we all can ask ourselves these questions and do something about this.

what isn't factual? The fact they push liberal agendas or the fact they haven't done anything but help clinton? If you're Conservative you would know a lot of Conservative views/posts being removed basically anything that isn't "PC", even things to do with Christianity. What furthers the liberals agenda obviously helps the liberal candidate involved in an election. Hillary lost because she was Hillary, not because of some shitty adds.

Listen, the reason Google, Facebook, KZbin, and Twitter runs the world, is you ALLOW them to. The internet is VAST, you won't do minimal work to find alternatives. That's YOUR fault, your mistake. I only post to this site, to get the "unwashed masses" (no offense!) to realize there's alternatives. I can't even post the alternatives, because if I do, you'll never see this post. Reach out, find the other sites - it's not that hard. The Internet is a HUGE system, with many locations and places to talk. OMG! This will be BORING! Is Mark Zuckerberg holding back his laughter? Imagine being this young guy surrounded & questioned by the old folks.

What do you mean by that? If you can't explain yourself, your insult is useless, idiot.

Emmanuel U i mean these old people you reference to as not knowing anything or maybe Mark is young and smarter than these fine American folks surrounding him is ridiculous

Good! That's how you criticize people you disagree with, not just calling them idiots. Also, thanks for telling me you didn't get the joke I made. My comment was a take on the atmosphere of a very smart young leader being held accountable by established government leaders. If you can't get or take such jokes, I'm sorry for you.

What will all the Narcissists do for attention if Facebook is shut down? If something doesn't replace it FAST, you can count on some suicides....Which would not necessarily be a bad thing.

Facebook is the best thing that has ever happened to me. I have been able to get in touch with people I thought I have lost forever, and put them in touch with people that were and still are friends that upon the separation of the 70's and 80's were lost. Hearing stories about them in the past and able to rekindle a friendship lost. I can connect with friends that as a group in the past were having a blast , broken by the government forcing us to separate threw fear. Now they are crucifying the one that has made all these things possible. We knew we were opening up, the public and everything you put on Facebook could be read. what is this taking the freedom of press are speech away from us?
