I remember the Carroll screamer vs Man City... the run of games Meireles went on when he could score from anywhere... the times when Agger and Skrtel were an impossible duo to beat... Suarez single handedly bringing joy and flare to a team that so badly needed it... the rise of young Jon Flanagan... the fearless Dirk Kuyt... and most importantly Steven Gerrard, our captain that never left us despite the amazing offers he received. Let's never forget what these players did for a club that needed heroes and needed reasons to keep us believing through the last decade. Thank them for what we have now.

I think Dalglish focused on simply winning any trophy what Brendan Rodgers done for this club was massive but his only problem was his loyalty to players who weren’t good enough to start for this club and Benteke being his biggest problem! Klopp stopped playing him after a few games forcing Firmino into the striker role. That’s the difference between a world class manager and a good manager.

I don't think it had to with KD specifically, more of the ownership situation. Hicks and Gillette were screwing the club at every turn and were trying to make as much money as possible while not prioritizing trophies. Torres did and with all the uncertainty at the club, I don't blame him for the move to Chelsea. It made sense for him personally. I do wish he'd stayed (still one of my favorite ever Pool players), but I can't fault the guy. And it also led us to Suarez which seemed to be a nice turnaround for the club.

Forget how we are now, we're all thinking of a great "roaring twenties" coming up. In terms of the bad times, it sticks in my craw that Hodgson said when he signed with Palace, "Liverpool fans never gave me a chance, booed me at one point." Nonsense, never did, If Hodgson was in charge now and we'd finished 5th-15th every season since, I wouldn't have booed or jeered. That's the worse part for me, his legacy that he made himself, respected him until that. I would like Klopp to tell remind players they're now allowed to touch the sign and I would like them to bring back what Rodgers did, Shankly's Liverbird and the red nets in goal. Rodgers had that right and I still have great respect for him.

@@dubcindub15 The team was slowly falling apart even without Souness. Most of core were getting old and slowing down as age caught up with them. Much like how United fell off after their last title. In reality the club was very fortunate to somehow continue the success after Bob Paisely left. That doesn't generally happen when a figure that great moves on. Even if it does, it never lasts for long. So the 90's was a huge reality check for the club especially once the Premier League was established.

Strictly talking Premier League era (since I started watching in 2001). Best Liverpool team for me was the 2008-2009 team. Should have won the league with those players but Rafa had other plans. Best player for me is Luis Suarez. If there was ever a player that lifted those around him and created goals out of nothing, it was this lad. Honorable mention goes to Gerard, destroyer Mascherano and Torres (in his hay day). Best manager has to be Klopp. He has brought so much passion and belief to Liverpool its unbelievable. Look at the players he has in his squad and where they were 5 years ago, you would have never thought they would make up a top contending team. As a United fan, this all sickens me and I certainly would rather have City win the league, but Anfield is a very special place in a very special game. In 10 years perhaps United will have a video like this one.

Once FSG took over, It became obvious that you had to deal with the ups and down with true vision, Dalglish was not the manager to take us to the future, with the game changing so much (in regards to players from all over the world and thier phones) Rodgers basically botteld it, and tried to keep his name rather than what the club needed, His ego took over on big occasions, The owners saw this lack of humilty, and moved him on, Sulked when the players got sold, but he knew it was moneyball, Dropped Gerrard captain fantstic on the biggest of stages in Madrid, Played for a win against Chelsea when a draw agsint a Chelsea who couldnt attack would have won us the league, that one tatical descion cost us the league. And then went defensive when things were not going well (not allowed due to moneyball, players from defensive teams do not sell as well as gifted, pretty players scoring goals ) Then they got Klopp, Who knew exactly what Liverpool needed, A team the fans could cheer on to victory

Kevin Mannix Thank you for mentioning the poor Chelsea tactics, finally someone besides me sees that. All they needed was the draw, that's it. Chelsea were holding up the ball in the corner 20 minutes into the game. Take the obvious draw, say thank you, and lift the PL trophy. But no, just HAD TO win. That put us in a situation where we were exposed and never going to get level against that defensive Chelsea side. That put us in a must-win by 9 goals against Palace. Overall, a big ego and inexperience cost us that title. Oh well, things are sure looking decent this year!

I remember Kenny coming back January 2011. There was table printed, stating that, had the Premier league season been reset to the day Kenny became manager, then on the last day of the season, Liverpool would have been second, only to Chelsea. Not bad for some of the dross he had, but also had suarez and Gerrard and Carra, and Henderson. Shame after he was permanently made manager, he couldn't drive us forward. Benitez Time would be over but it was mistake to fire him in 2010. Benitez deserved back then a last chance, Roy Hodgson was never ready to coach a top side like Liverpool. I don’t understand why Liverpool never hired a top coach after Benitez left. Just because Hodgson was a Europa League finalist.....Steve Mcclaren was UEFA Cup finalist too and was the new england manager and he failed ( Yeah i know Club and Nation Teams are different but that shows that Coaches who shock the World with a little club, are not always top coaches. If they would have enough success like Klopp with BVB in the past, then yes they are top coaches ).
