Salah is playing remarkably, but so are gakpo, van dijk, trent, macallister, gravenberch. To single one of them out just because he scores the most goals is doing a disservice to the collective. Ballon d'or is an award. It is not a competition. Scores of fantastic players will never come close to winning the BO because it focuses more on the idealistic football fantasy: scoring goals.

I think the Notts Forest game for Liverpool, in two game weeks, will determine whether they'll run away with it or could be a tight finish. I recall 2019/20 season, Liverpool in a similar position at the half way stage and had Leicester away after Christmas. Leicester were second in the league at that point. Excellent point Mark about Salah not getting the plaudits he deserves because he's Egyptian and Egypt is not one of the powerhouse football nations, but the consistency he has shown every single season and he also seems to break a different record every couple of weeks. The truth is that football is obviously filled with bias towards whatever team you happen to support but true fans who support a team but also love the beautiful game will to a man say how good Salah really is. Troy Deeney's comments were ridiculous, he doesn't want his sons to grow up and play like Salah, who in my opinion is one of the most dedicated and committed players of the modern era. Sometimes you just have to accept that morons are gonna be given a platform to spout complete bs.

I'm a Liverpool fan and after the City win I thought we're winning the league. We have that same feeling of inevitability we had in that 2018-2020 period where it just didn't matter who we faced you knew we would win, it always felt like we would score and it feel like that this year again. I'm really pleased we've been able to revive that feeling. Under slot we've managed to control games much better. Even going one goal behind isn't scary like against Leicester and that's when you know we're on fire. I watch a lot of premier league games from other teams and no one is on our level. City are having some sort of stroke this season and maybe Arsenal are the only other team that can produce a Liverpool type performance but not every week which is the key thing. It's in the bag.
