Slot appears to have a "Predicted Finish" perception of the other Premier League teams. There should (or could) be a special dispensation to select 2nd choice players instead for "Predicted 14th - 20th placed teams". Southampton are 20th now and predicted 19th (according to OPTA, October 2024). So, I'd expect to see more of Kelleher, Gomez, Tsimikas and Jones in this particular game.

Listening to Slot interviews he certainly has concerns about his South Americans going straight in when they return. Plus, Endo (166 mins total) & Gomez (261 mins) were in 16 (of 17) matchday squads. So, there is a high regard for them.

Imo for the first 30 minutes the main focus will be in not conseeding,but as we grow into the match i think our energy and quality will be too much for them. Although a scrappy tight game is in prospect southamptons matt le tissier's days are long gone, id go for a 2 nil Liverpool win with more relegation woes for the saints. Van Dyke is always the best. You can pair Vigil with anyone at the center back, and the team will be good. But you can't really rely on pairing Konate with anyone apart from Van.

The narrative that the team struggles after International breaks needs to stop. It is just a cop-out. It's an excuse, that has now become a reason. These guys are professionals and should be used to this. Other teams also have players that travel all over to play for their countries, come back and perform. If it truly does affect their performance, then it is purely a forced mentality issue.
