Along the coast of Crosby beach, lays a fascinating glimpse in to Liverpool's past. After the May blitz in 1941, the clean up of houses and buildings began and the rubble was moved to Crosby beach to protect the sand dunes from further erosion.
There are bricks from houses, walls, massive sandstone blocks, gravestones (!) and lots of floor tiles from residential houses offering a real glimpse in to the past. Each time I walk down this rubble, I see newly discovered bricks that have come to the surface or notice floor tiles that I have missed previously!
