Agree wholeheartedly with the stuff on the contract talks. I think the best players aren't worried about the club buying players as they don't think they will be the ones dropped or they think they will help them win trophies. Compare that with Virgil saying we need 2 or 3 signings and us not buying someone and the club them talking to him about a new contract! If we sign them to new deals, how much of our transfer spend would be offset by knowing they aren't going on frees or need replacing (Trent). I cannot imagine any of the 3 will sign new deals before November, why would they? I am staying positive. Edwards and Hughes are intelligent guys and so I believe we will be active this coming week. While it didn't cone off, we now know that we had a deal setup in late May for Gordon until Newcastle pulled out and no one had a clue about it. It makes no sense at the business end of the window for LFC to be making it known they want or need players now as it hurts their negotiating position. They are clearing the decks so let's just see what occurs over the next few days.

Two players that should have been signed to bolster Slots chances of going one further than Klopp did last season : Kubo Real Sociedad (approximately 50 million)& GEERTRUIDA (30 million) from Feyenoord. I would have been happy with Zubimendi but now we seem to have found a solution..the minimum would be the two I mentioned. One would be excellent cover for Mo Salah and a future replacement and GEERTRUIDA can play LB, RB and cover for the number 6 role. If Joe leaves then we need a player has versatile has GEERTRUIDA. Yes, Klopp left Slot a good squad of players, one Klopp was building on but, it’s not by any means the finished article.

I think Slot needs a season before he can fully shape a new team, but must say I feel a bit uneasy with the feeling that the club is trying to get rid of Gomez, one of our few players that can play several positions and be comfortable with it and was one of our most important players last season. In my mind there is no doubt that he is the center back to play beside Virgil, they did that before the terrible injury to Gomez and it worked marvelously, some games it was Gomez that was the better off the two, unfortunately it seams people have totally forgotten about that, their understanding for each other position was great and they are also great friends it seams, so what would a sale do for the squad, loosing a player that has been there the longest? And obviously very much liked by the other players! This just baffles me.

Agree on the disrespect at Endo, but I understand the over-arching point being that he was supposedly a last-minute stop-gap. We should definitely not be starting a new season in the same position. Let's hope FSG feel they have gouged us enough for one year and release some of the cash we have generated for them in order to improve the team.
