I remember Bobby Charlton saying he always enjoyed playing at Anfield in his era but rarely if ever got a result with that United side at Goodison in the era that he played in. I started going to all the home games in the 1985/86 season aged 12 then 13. United always seemed to produce a decent performance here in those years immediately before Fergie under Atkinson. Then Fergie arrived in the November of 1986. Always a huge game, THE game in English top-flight football. I remember that swine of a 3-3 in the 1987/88 season. As good as we were that season, we failed to beat you at Anfield and you were down to ten-men and 3-1 behind. I was on the old standing Kop aged 14 and I felt badly shortchanged for once by that 87/88 side as we got the bus home. Robson's deflected effort was a dagger to my teenage heart.

Why wasn't this match moved forward 24 hours to Saturday where it's dry and sunny. Tomorrow weather to be terrible zero visibility heavy sleet and advised no one to travel. Why do we always get the worst day to play and for people need to travel. Don't want another postponement but if it affects the passing and no visibility it be better it is called off. Should been played today when authorities knew tomorrow was to be like this. Can't get as planes and trains are cancelled tomorrow.

Why do we always get sunday matches? or matches in general when the weather is bad? My god, they need to do better. We have played only 18 matches while all the others have played 20.

@whatmatters683Күн бұрын
Because the media bid for games, the club takes the money from the media, the police are planned well in advance, weather is weather, no club puts their fans first. We have a heated pitch no need to cancell, other than some idiot thinking fans can't walk in snow (or wind) to a ground.

He's a broken man isn't he. Utd are completely utterly bereft & I don't blame Amorim one bit. This is the result of terrible owners coupled with a decade of mismanagement & neglect at every level of the club. It's going to take another decade & half billion pounds or more to upgrade the sqaud & facilities etc to make them even competitive again, let alone compete for the league.
@hamonryechinaski180Күн бұрын
Newcastle was down to Amorim. Van Nistleroy would have been better choice as caretaker til summer if Amorim refuses to adapt to his current squad. Dallo(?) as an attacking wing back on wrong foot?? Midfield 2 of Ericsson and Casemiro? Zirkzee as left IW? No wonder players are losing confidence!!
@ragerider6283Күн бұрын
@hamonryechinaski180 I get what you're saying but RVN would've been hopeless imo. Amorim's a far superior coach but inherited a poor squad & is just trying to figure out what to do with them. He's got square pegs in round holes all over the pitch so he's got to try doing something different. Everyone else over the last 10 years has failed so he may as well experiment as they would've most likely lost the Newcastle game regardless. The board interviewed & appointed Amorim knowing full well what his footballing style & philosophy was, which was no secret, so they're to blame if anyone.
@AfterthoughtbtwКүн бұрын
Amorim has to take some of the blame. His intransigence has meant he is insisting upon playing a system completely unknown by the players, whilst also complaining about not having any time to train them, and they are getting beaten as a result. That's on him - no-one is forcing him to do that. If you are going to claim that doing that is necessary - as he is - then he has to expect to be held accountable for what happens whilst he does it. There seems to be a bit of an assumption that what Amorim is doing is going to work and therefore it's okay. I'm not sure what is backing that assumption other than pure faith.
@ragerider6283Күн бұрын
@@Afterthoughtbtw I get that & I agree with a lot of what you've said but this shouldn't be a shock to anyone. He's only been in charge for 9 weeks & 11 games so it seems a bit too soon to throw the baby out with the bath water imo. He's attempting to instill a new footballing philosophy which is seldom quick or easy & is bound to involve some wrong turns along the way. I agree the jury's out if this the right move or not but my point is he needs more time to at least try. Lots of managers over lots of years have tried lots of different things at utd which haven't worked so it's time for something different maybe. Look at the time & money ETH got to do what exactly?!? Amorim is in a new country, club & league & yet isn't being afforded anywhere near the same courtesy as people have run out of patience because of all the dross that came before, which isn't his fault. I'm not saying he's getting everything right & shouldn't try to adapt etc, but equally he needs time to figure it out & be allowed to make mistakes if necessary as part of a learning curve. Also, any talk of relegation is just silly catastrophic thinking being fueled by the media & panicky utd fans. They we're never going to finish top 6 anyway so what's the difference if they finish 12th for example. Strangest of all in this is that I detest utd lol so I don't want them to succeed at all, ever, but I like Amorim & he deserves a fair shake imo.

Interesting and good debate with a utd fan so fair play. Just one thing though and its a general gripe. Salah is not as good as Dalglish and never will be. Rushie is also disrespected in this way and its a shame to do this to real legends who were brilliant in their time and would also be brilliant today without question. Let Salah be Salah (also a legend) but stop the comparisons please

Disappointed to hear a Manc journo complain about the owners sucking money out of the club, when in that time they have outspent even Man City. If that was "strapping bricks on the back of an Olympic swimmer", the other swimmers they were competing against must have been bearing fully fledged houses. He clearly knows it, too, when he immediately owns up that they spent lots of money in that time. I wouldn't want the Glazers anywhere near our club, but that's for footballing reasons, not because of their financial decisions. Those financial decisions directly earn the club masses and masses of money to the extent that they out earned _Real Madrid_ for most of the drought they have been experiencing on the pitch since they last won the title. The club wouldn't even have a fraction of all that money they take out without them. Otherwise other, more successful teams would have been doing it. It's not like the Glazers are the second coming of H&G, or even lesser disastrous owners like Mike Ashley. They have been financially better run than every other single club in England in their time there. It's everything else they've got wrong.

5:30 - we actually were consistently challenging for the title? I think it was 2007-2008-2009 we came second or 3rd all 3 years even 1 point behind united! So horrible take there
@claudecarlyle9284Күн бұрын
- 2007 - 21 points behind MU and 15 behind Chelsea; never in the race - 2008 was three-horse race between MU, Chelsea, Arsenal - Liverpool never got above fourth after December and didn't break 80 points while three sides above did - 2009 should have been their title with just 2 defeats and home/away wins v MU and Chelsea but crazy draws cost them; 4 points behind MU but a proper title-race. Also, 2001/02 was almost a title-race but Arsenal finished comfortably ahead; Liverpool above MU.
@claudecarlyle9284Күн бұрын
*I say cost THEM because I'm a SWFC fan but have a soft spot for Liverpool because my dad's Scottish and a fan, so I've always followed...them. Also amazing how Liverpool became a mid-table side with no European football for almost decade with one Luis Suarez-inspired exception until Klopp. And 2005/06 was very similar to 2001/02 but with Chelsea as champions and LP/MU reversed.
