I really can't understand why Klopp continues to receive almost no criticism - the other day on here they were saying how Salah's form is so average but Klopp can't manage that - ie there's nothing he can do. Why not? Not a Man U fan but Fergie seemed to be able to keep all his players playing - and wanting to play - at their sharpest. Liverpool have struggled against teams that defend deep, they struggle to break down teams that sit deep and let them have the ball. Liverpool aren't particularly known for the their positional play but for the transition and quick breaks and hitting teams on the break or winning the ball high up the pitch to create high scoring opportunities. Am not that surprised, the fact that they were playing a Seria A side which don't really care much for the ball and are known for their defensive discipline.

That's why they will continue to lose to realmadrid even if they play 100 times. Klop tactics has a big flaw and that flaw is the inability to control the midfield, attack via the mid field and link up in tight places in both midfield and final third. They make up for these weakneses by their unmatched intensity, transition and winning the ball high up the pitch. The problem is they can't maintain that intensity in every game and they are not specialized in breaking teams that defend deep and can play out of their press especially when they liverpool relent in their press. Liverpool's most important strength is their intensity in pressing. Take it away, they become average. Madrid have too much quality to not play out of their press, and Italian teams are very technical, they are very good at link up same with Spanish teams. Only liverpool full squad can play the way Liverpool normally play. Anything else is not enough. They really underestimated a defensive but extremely technical team like Atalanta and payed for it.

Atalanta played amazingly well. They pressed our back four and midfield and dispossessed us every time we tried to pass through the middle. Liverpool had about 5 or 6 really good chances to score but didn’t take them again. The midfield got overrun by Atalanta and their back four shut out Liverpools forwards with ease almost every time. Nunez has to score early on, he needs to start putting them in or he will end up benched and Edwards will sign another forward in the summer. Liverpool have rode their luck in a lot of games this season and we have been taught a lesson here by a perfect team performance. Props to Atalanta

Liverpool have gotten away with not being at full throttle squad-wise and that was forced due to injuries. They responded very well with so many wins. Probably got to Klopp's head and he felt surely the team he started with would put Atalanta to bed. Got a rude awakening. Credits to Atalanta, they were sharp, direct and took their chances. Even in the second half they weren't phased. Attacked well, defended well
