Saw him play for Legends yesterday, for the first time ever in person, and he rocked the place as we knew he would. He scored as well🤩 As a kid becoming a footy fan, El Niño was 1 of the first players I became a fan of, and I even got a Torres kit. I remember the day he left for Chelsea, I was sad & shocked when I saw it on newsround. I missed him SO much (as many did)!! Fast forward to yesterday, it was a dream come true to see him play at Anfield, the man who I loved watching on TV, right there in front of my eyes no screen in-between. My inner child loved each & every minute he played & freaked out SOOOOO much when he scored at the same end I was sitting (Kenny Stand, near the Kop) 🤩🤩🤩 He will forever be a Liverpool legend for us fans, especially fans like me who fell in love with the game bcuz of him and similar players. My all time favourite player. I watched him score a hattrick in 2009 when he came to South Africa for the confederation cup. It was the first ever football match I ever saw, and from there on I became Liverpool and Fernando Torres obsessed. I remember when he went to Chelsea and all my friends gathered at the school gate in the morning waiting for me to arrive so that they can start having a laugh at my misery. Still my favourite ever player though, I doubt that will ever change.

Fernando Torres was after the 05-fairytale my go-to watch guy. He was phenomenal @Liverpool and I still remember crying reading he was off to another club. I was one of them keyboard-warriors who flamed Fernando for leaving this amazing family and I was extremely disappointed by his choices... but damn what a beast he was for the mighty Reds. Torres made me become a Liverpool fan. With gracious owner, clear structure and had they kept key players in Alonso, Mascherano & Torres himself he’d have won titles with Liverpool. I will never forget the season we finished second. It was so close but the dedication and passion through that season was incredible. I was heart broken when he left us of course like most of us I was angry and felt betrayed, but honestly when you compare the better days like right now with back then you can clearly see why he had to go for his own. I’m happy for him that he still feels connected to the club and appreciates Klopp’s team as well. He’ll forever be my hero. I’ve never seen a better striker like him.
