Light action. I have some 12’s and 10’s of different crappie brands that work great when they thump it, but there’s something about catching them on braid and ultralight that makes it extra fun.

Carlos, I recently was turned onto your channel by a guy on the TFF.. I fish belton, waco, tradinghouse, and have fished them for many years.. also occasionally cedar creek. we went to belton yesterday, and fished from around noon to 4 pm.. we found plenty of fish but the bite was brutally tough.. we would watch them swim up to out jig or minnow and dart off,, either that or when we would get within 1o feet of them, they would leave.. we are fishing 12 foot acc crappie stix,, but im going to move up to some 14s very soon... we tried everything,, we fished hard and caught 3 cats, several hybrids, and white bass, with just one crappie... I suspect the fish are on a long night fish cycle right now, and the next time we go im going to go try the same area at night..,we found ALOT of fish from 14 feet all the way down to 35 feet... . we are finding mixed species of fish , just like in your night fishing vid.. @@CarlosPadillaCentex

Glad you found the channel! Belton seems difficult to find a pattern. It’s almost a day by day challenge. At least you caught some other species

when the lake is at normal pool or close, and there is stability, the crappie seem to either prefer timber, or brush if we check several brushpiles in different depths and find nothing, we pull off of the brushpiles and go search timber.. also if the north end gets muddy due to runoff from the river, you will not find crappie in that muddy water,, I always run to midlake until I find the cleaner water... and bright, moon nights as you know are brutal the next morning,., I think the VERY HEALTHY baitfish population on belton is a double edged sword.. they usually have plenty to eat all year, so they are thriving, but it can make them very picky and tough to catch sometimes.. a plastic go to jig I use on belton is the creme lures lil fishie in the smallest size.. pearl white with black spot,., and as far as hair jigs, a 1/32 oz pink head/black body/chartruese tail is hard to beat.. a favorite plastic during springtime is the constant pursuit outfitter stump jumper plastic frog on a short shank, wide gap 1/64 oz jig head under a neoprene fly cork.. it it a super subtle presentation.. and the crappie hammer the little frog... during spawn and after for a month or so I downsize everything.,, another plastic I like is the crazy angler smallest size slab bandit in meller yelller, and pink and white.. it looks like you have found some great colors too that I plan to try.. @@CarlosPadillaCentex

Great video! Looks like were gonna finally get some cooler temps next week. Plan on hitting it hard. Im sure Monday gonna have to spend getting all electronics dialed in and then it's on. Probably be putting in at Blora. This water so low not sure where I want to start.

The GT56 is on the transom UHD side and down with 2d chirp. The 34 is Livescope only. Hope you the kayak rigged up soon!
