My Aunt has a room for her office, and when she has overnight guests, she puts the Murphy Bed down. Now I understand that they can be expensive but with your building skills you could make one for both office rooms. You may have to buy the spring hinges, but it would be worth having more space in your office when you don't have company staying overnight.

With all the retirees in Florida, there are lots of estate sales and usually second day things are hslf price.. Also Murphy beds are real popular down here. I see lots of them at estate sales.

So so happy for you ! Elizabeth, I love a porch too. When we moved into out house 36 years ago my husband put a porch on for me. The owner said it can’t be done because our house is to low. I didn’t say anything but said to myself you don’t know my husband. That summer he put a front porch on a sunroom in the back and new windows in and new roof. 😀 I thank God for my wonderful husband and all his blessings. I can’t wait to see all you do to your home 🏡

I know over in Ala they have great thrift shops to sort through for furniture! So fun! I would LOVE to thrift shop for a whole house! Restore has gorgeous furniture up here in Ohio! Have fun! I wish my 2 sons would be half as helpful as Barry is to you! You are so blessed!

Have you thought about a Murphy bed for bill’s office? Some of them are sophisticated enough to have shelves (or other stuff) on the ‘bottom’ of the bed, when you deploy the bed, you don’t have to remove stuff from the shelves.

Sounds like quite a plan. I didn't know the RRR'S really meant rest, relax, remodel. Just think what flowers/plants you can have in pots on that porch. The new house seems to look in better shape than when you first showed it so that is good. Thrifting & antiquing is so much fun especially if you get great bargains. Happy painting! 🎨🖌 ❤

Regarding the bunk beds: Don't "bunk" them! Don't stack them on top of each other while you need to sleep in them. We had beds in college that were able to be stacked or not stacked. They had 4x4 posts with steel or iron pins to hold them together. It was safe enough for college kids, so it must be safe! The whole college had beds like that.

You'll love your porch. We spend a lot of time on our back porch. You will want to have Bill make you a couple of bird feeders. They will give you hours of pleasure watching a variety of birds feed. Maybe a bird bath, too! I'm so happy for you. You found a nice home.

I lived in Florida for over 20 years and they have wonderful “junk” stores. I always furnished my houses using them and antique stores always. I had great fun doing it. Enjoy yourself Elizabeth, have a blast junking.

I do like your colour choices but I personally found warm colours were too much for me in a tropical climate. I originally did cool, loved sage green but more recently I've embraced the white trend. I'm so pleased for you to have this 'snowbird' home, we do too but ours is in a remote fishing area, and we love going there.

I hope the Florida air continues to agree with you … be careful of the mold in the air that accumulates with the rains and heavy humidity. My husband had some issues but was able to get allergy shots with a pulmonologist. We are retired Army and have lived off and on on the Gulf Coast and love the white sand and emerald waters of the panhandle! We are enjoying the West now in Utah and Montana but plan to get back to the beaches for Winter’s too.

LOVE your color choices! It will really brighten up the home. My favorite spot would be the front porch, especially since you can see the sunrise! Sitting outside, enjoying the weather, knowing that you are missing out on winter up north!

I live in Lake County-north & west of Orlando. Grew up in another peninsula so I know about cold winters. Not sure where you found your snowbird house but I would suspect it's within 50 miles of us. We moved from Miami and in early 80s we 'enjoyed' an unexpected freeze on Christmas morning. Awoke to no water. Thankfully, we had a plant nursery across the road & obtained a couple PVC fittings, remedied the problem and was able to have a great day without resorting to call the wellman out at a hefty price tag. If you have your own well, and it's in the open, may wish to build a structure for it and when freeze is expected, leave bathroom & kitchen faucets on a slow drip while you sleep at night. And when possible out thrifting, look for sheets & light weight blankets to keep just for yard plants you put in that can be knocked back with a freeze. We cover certain plantings when the night temps get down in the 30s. Like pineapple & ornamentals that are more geared for slightly warmer places. Hope you find pleasure in all phases of making your new winter home!

For his office ,you might want to consider a couch bed. We bought a nice one. It has a queen size bed in it. Then,you can of coarse use it to sit on. Takes less space . Ours has to be a bedroom-office

Welcome to wonderful Florida! I am an 8th generation Floridian. We live in the southernmost part of Jacksonville, just across the creek from St Johns County (St Aug) and we have a 2nd home in the mountains of NC. We stay in FL for the required 6 months for homestead exemption on RE tax. In the hot summer months, we head to our house in the cool mountains. We do go back to FL for 2 weeks every 2 months to check on things and for dr appts. It’s wonderful!

He had a house boat at St.johns river .WE would also do day trips to Daytona ,Tampa and Orlando.Our uncle had an office in Ocala another nice town.Your house is awesome.

Seriously, I didn't realize what a great house that is! Not a fixer upper. I would love it. Following you guys has been quite an interesting journey. One of our sons is a Navy Corpsman in medical school to become a doctor in North Carolina. As the GSM progresses we may find ourselves migrating. Another son has planned for us to move in with him once husband's Parkinson's is in a more advanced stage. I have spinal stenosis and need knee replacements. My asthma has greatly minimized since I've been keto way of eating! No inhaler anymore and only time I have a slight symptom is when I'm sick. So I must have some food allergies? I couldn't be around fumes of any kind either and still can't. My A1C went from 11 down to 6.1 and I'm off the diabetic insulin now. Diabetes is what got me on the change in diet. So, very happy with results. I believe the grains and starches were the main culprits because I eliminated sugar years ago. No fast food or restaurants anymore either.

Am seeing more about how Leto is reversing autoimmune, asthma, allergies, skin conditions and more! Even intermittent fasting seems to help without full blown keto. Dr Berg’s KZbin videos on those subjects have helped increase my stamina a bit and to shed a good amount of the weight I gained from the isolation and immobility necessitated by the pandemic and several Covid variant infections. Am now 75 yo and still alive by God’s grace to be regaining my strength and health.

I just posted to Elizabeth about being on keto. Keto has eliminated a lot of my health issues and I've lost over 50 lb and being on keto helped me take care of my husband even though I have partial club feet, spinal stenosis and osteoarthritis, plus levoscoliosis. Keto is a total life changer and thank goodness you don't have to pay for it like other diets. Dr Ken Berry MD is phenomenal. I got his book 101 wise doctors told me. Elizabeth could make drastic changes just with Keto.

My husband just passed away November 6th and he had multiple left side ischemic strokes. I kept telling him to go on keto with me and he said I wasn't the doctor and he didn't have to listen to me. I said that's true and at the time we had been married over 45 years. It has been a nightmare taking care of him through all The strokes finally he would never listen and had more strokes and finally I told him you need to go on hospice. He didn't want to do anything and it got to be where he was on so many medications. I have three blood clots in my left leg and I wear compression socks every day. The compression socks stopped the three clots from going to my heart lung or brain. Now the clots are all gone and I thank Keto. Hubby is now in God's memory awaiting the resurrection.

I know what the knee problem is like it happened to me three days ago, I’m on crutches and a knee brace. I’m 76 and I was just about to go down the basement and I heard it pop ! Couldn’t go to the doctor for two days because I couldn’t get into the car.starting to improve I was told it was cartilage that popped. Could have been worse I could have fell down the basement. The lord was watching over me.🙏

Welcome to Florida Elizabeth and Bill. We are retired Army and just south of Orange Park since 2006. Hubby was raise in Pensacola. But our oldest lives about 10 miles away. You mentioned St Augustine. We are about 40 mins west. Do try the Columbia Restaurant and have the 1928 Salad and Cuban bread.

I did the same thing when bought my cottage on the lake. It's 1,020 sq. ft. and has a screen porch. I love it here I'm 3. 5 miles from town but I live in the country. I am so blessed to live here. I know just how you feel!

Love the colours you chose! My house has those chair rails throughout too. We've used a creamy white on the top half, grey and golden brown on the base. The chair rails are a stained timber like the door frames and skirting boards. If possible I'd install a larger shower unit using the entire width of the bathroom. I envy you the opportunity to potter around the antique and goodwill stores, such fun.

If there’s a Big Lots in your area…check it out if you need anything for the house… they have almost anything you could possibly need at great prices… when we couldn’t find things at thrift stores etc. when we needed them, we went there when we bought our house in Florida and it saved us $$$ many times. Furniture; Mattresses, Bedding, Housewares; Foodstuffs, Auto items….You can even order online from them now I think….BTW Great colors!

A friends husband went to school for mildew and smoke damage. He owned a business for home damage. He said for mildew just spray mildew with straight Vinegar. Spray really well wait 2-3 days if a little comes back spray again. It might take 3 time but it will not come back. It's a lot cheaper then buying some with chemicals. I sprayed the mildew twice and it was gone. Congratulations on your new home many blessings!
