Ex RAF here from the 80s and I travelled frequently on Hercs from RAF Lyneham. I don't fully remember the layout internally but you could get into the cockpit from the rear via some steps and a door. I do remember the toilet and shower curtain for privacy was very near the rear ramp !! This looks pretty good though and defo a step up for a Captain Sim product.

I was hoping for a C130, which has been through at least the glass cockpit upgrades from about 15 years ago with the FMC. The latest upgrades have really cleaned up the cockpit, so it doesn't look as busy. Returning to the 80s/90s version is not horrible, but I think sales would be better with an FMC.

Autopilot NAV-mode. = Above the selector for radio nav 1 and 2 you have a switch. If you switch that to “Norm” then you have NAV-mode engaged an can use the heading bug as per usual. Note! Radio nav and gyro mode will be turned off in this mode. Altitude hold and alt climb/dec will work as normal.

C-130 MODELS: Here is a listing of the C-130 models (military ones) in order of production and how to identify them. 1. C-130 A Model: 3 bladed props & 2 small wing fuel tanks outboard of # 1 and 4 engines. 2. C-130 B Model: 4 bladed props & no wing tanks. 3. C-130 E Model: 4 bladed props & 2 large wing fuel tanks,between #1&2 & # 3&4 engines 4. C-130 H Model: 4 bladed props & 2 large wing fuel tanks, between #1&2 & # 3&4 engines 5. C-130 J Model: 6 bladed props & no wing tanks. Notes: the A's B's and E's are out of service....for the most part. Some H & J models are configured for special ops, tactical ops and refueling service as such and will have a variety of wing tanks. Some Foreign Air Forces still fly some B and E models. Proper engine start sequence for U.S. Military C-130 aircraft is always 3421

Correction on the J model (I literally see them being built daily as I work in Marietta). Most of the J models we produce have external tanks. This includes the short J and the -30J.

@@superskullmaster Thanks for the update. But I believe most of the early J models were tankless, but didn't know most of the later ones have tanks. You did say "Most of the J model we produce have external tanks" so I assume there are still some J's being produced without tanks? And, have you heard any scuttlebutt about Lockheed coming out with a new series designation, like a K model or such? And what about current production going over to 8 bladded props like some some upgraded H models?

@@tnuhaes haven’t heard anything about a new designation. As for the models, I’d say maybe 2/3 have tanks. Doesn’t mean they will keep them on however as sometimes they are just for ferrying.

Your not supposed to move thew condition lever until you get %21 of N1 for that particular turbine.

The autor made a major fault at engine startup: Geared turboprops have to be started at conditionlever in low idle position! Fully back ! The autor pushes the levers in advance to 100%, = hihg idle. Starting this way wil lead to immediately redlining and or enginefire !! Very expensive Always start geared turbo's at low idle, when engine has stabilised than lever to high idle =100% In fight min 98% to reduce noise. Same @ CV580, Turbo Commander e.d. 26:14

Not so, it's the flight engineers seat. All C-130's up to the H model have flight engineers.The J model did away with the flight engineer.

@@tnuhaes When I was a passenger on the USCG H models, they had a flight mech who usually took the right "navigator" seat and the crew chief would sit in the middle "3rd" seat whenever they were bored or wanted to talk. If you were visiting, that's where they would usually sit you (once they let me fly right seat for about 30min, that was pretty cool) Maybe that was just local practice,

Its not Snobbery... Captain Sim fired 2 of the 3 chief developers then Ported FSX products straight in to MSFS and used Generic marketplace modeling assets and the default 747 flight model and engines, Circa 2020 to fill the gaps in modeling for MSFS 2020.. this was for the Boing 777 . A lot of players felt it was terribly fraudulent and poorly executed and Captain Sim lost all credibility and good will .. It went even so far players called them " Captain Scam " causally in online discussion.. I think MS Scenery has since pushed Captain Sim out of the lowest regard place in the MSFS market place. back in FSX days I truly loved the 757 and C130 Experience products. I have hundreds of hours in those flight decks. I will forever judge Captain Sim against their previous FSX products particularly their procedure and systems logic and accuracy

this Version 3 I cant see it being to much different from the CS C-130 version 2, to this version 3 that ejects flares, whoop de doo. If it had paratrooper animations and cargo in the back etc like the C-160 then...it would be worth considering, but it doesnt. Its basically a patched version that should have been offered to members who purchased V2. for free. CS greed shows like a beacon here. It is not just the money, but you invest a lot of time learning the systems only to find it does not work. I hate planes that have various systems that don’t work. I know you can only cover so much in your review…but i am not interested in investing more time in planes that don’t really work.
