The world's full of unknown (at least for me) beautiful places to visit and you've been making your way through them for a fairly long time now. People should see and take into consideration how people live in different parts of the world, mostly since everything changed in March 2020. I'm glad you're showing everybody that traveling has been more than possible since then. Greetings from a Uruguayan living in Spain.

car rentals are expensive in Armenia, first mainly because of lack of competition, 2nd reason is that Armenia doesn't produce cars, imported cars are much more expensive in Armenia with around 50% tax rate, plus transport cost to get the car to Armenia.. pretty much a car in Armenia costs around 1.6 to 2 times more than in the US..

Hello Alina. Fun to have a sneak peek at this place. I already got a ticket from Madeira via Lisbon to Turkey in march 22. And will spend the whole time until winter up in Caucasus. 3-4 months in Armenia. Do you have any plans of going to Iran? I strongly and warmly recommend it when they start issuing tourist visas again. So many amazing places to see, both natural and cultural. Lots of wonderful people. And the food plus all the chay chatting is worth the trip almost on it's own. And in Iran you still have nomadic tribes. Visiting them with a guide is both highly doable and absolutely fascinating. I have been to iran before, and have so many memories from there, and will leave Caucasus through Iran myself late next autumn. It is so much worth it. Also iran is quite cheap, and getting around is for the most part quite easy. Only one word of advice... It's not the place to discuss religion or national politics.
@AlinaMcleod3 жыл бұрын
Thank you! Yes would love to go to Iran at some point but probably won’t be this year

@@AlinaMcleod sa far I can see, Iran is still covid closed. One thing, iran doesn't completely ban drones, but there are permits and rules, and those have a sting. Sting enough for common tourists to have been thrown in jail for it (possibly more for political reasons, drone activity being more an excuse), please check that before going in...I dont think we want to see you picked up!!

A lot of Soviet era statues and monuments are still left standing in the post Soviet space because its expensive to demolish them and people frankly have better uses for scarce public funds. The solution is to simply ignore them.

Alina, not sure if you're familiar with Vlogger "Nomad Capitalist". He does a whole series of videos on places one might want to set up residence in as an ex-pat, mainly focussing on cost of living (including cost of housing), tax rates, and of course, the rules around establishing residence in a particular country. I believe he was quite positive on Georgia, so perhaps you can check that out when you go there. Do check out his videos though as a possible place to begin your evaluation.

I believe 1st world countries are not the countries from the fall out of Russia, i.e. " describes countries that are considered to have reached the upper echelon of advancement in several categories. First World countries have a high-functioning democracy with little risk of instability or insurgency. Their economies are stable, innovative, and typically capitalist. First World countries enjoy the most advanced technologies, the highest standards of living, and the greatest degree of political and cultural influence across the globe." The eastern Europe countries you visit do not fall in this definition. Just thought I'd let you know. Sorry if you know this and are referring to these countries as 1st world for personal reasons. That said I do continue to enjoy your efforts and sharing them.

Alina, I gotta admit this stream was funny from bad coffee to cold weather in Sask. About the car rentals been expensive, you left out insurance cost. Because you do not any driving experience in Armenia, you are probably considered a high risk driver. I am guessing driving is not safe compared to first world countries.

I thankfully have full auto insurance from my credit card which covers rentals. You’re not considered a high risk driver if you’re new to a country. Just need an international license.
