I live in the greater Seattle area. The truth is that it's not as bad as the internet would make it out, it's actually worst :) But only in certain small areas. And that's the key, the areas are actually super small, but they have slowly growing. Everyone that has money moves to the East side where there are essentially zero of these issues. If you live in Clyde Hill or Medina (average home price $4.25M) not only do you not have any of these issues, but there is a strong police presence, clean streets, and you will get a ticket for speeding (> 25mph) or even jay walking if there's an event going on. It's a night and day difference. Even in the crappy areas home prices are $700k+. So regular people are left with 1 of 3 options: deal with it, try to get the city leaders to clean up, or leave. Personally I think the Seattle City Council is way to far gone to fix anything, so I left (ie moved to the East Side) and only stay for the job / money. Once I've got the financials worked out I'm gone. If you look at the voting records Seattle has and will continue to vote for these polices are slowly killing the city. Then gaslight themselves into believing they are both doing the right thing and the morally correct thing. For example: Making sure that homelessness is not illegal. Any time people try to protect their property or modify the laws, someone will come out and say they are 'attacking' the homeless and trying to 'make homelessness illegal.' Mercer Island passed a regulation against 'camping on public sidewalks or parks' (ie no tents) and some in Seattle reacted like they were calling for the final solution??? Ultimate the voters do not want to do what's necessary to fix the problems...

In the 1990's police commissioner William Bratton solved a crime epidemic which swept across New York since the 80s with a 'tough on crime' strategy called "Broken window policing". The theory is that; if you ignore minor crimes such as broken windows, eventually criminals become more confident and brazen, then go on to commit more heinous crimes. But by preventing minor crimes he effectively cut criminality off in it's infancy. It's interesting how New Yorkers would have this in their collective memory. The events are still quite contemporary, only being a few decades ago, and they vote to defund the police and give addicts and criminals free reign to do whatever they want. Because that will definitely work to reduce crime...

I watched that seattle stream live, almost all the homeless he interviewed said their number one problem to not getting their life together, is how how easy it is to get drugs, yet our political class has been telling us easier access to drugs is what would help them, almost like they aren't listening to the very people they say they are helping.
@pm288629 күн бұрын
That's because it's deliberate. They know exactly what they're doing.

There's a lot of money to be made from dumping taxpayer funds into solutions. The politicians have friends and family create LLC corporations that then get awarded contracts. These LLC then subcontract out to the actual solution providers. This is how they skim taxpayer money for profit and why homeless solutions are so expensive in serving so few people. Seattle's prior mayor Jenny Durkin had one homeless solution cost $100 million dollars to provide 300 beds for homeless. Don't forget the annual maintenance costs on top of that. The mental health and homeless solutions are overpriced schemes to pad the wallets and basically create sinecure careers for friends and family members of the politicians and government officials.

There was a family in Seattle whose bag was stolen just outside of the courthouse. They went into a homeless encampment to try and get it back and were chased off by guys with machetes. They chased this family, which included a small child, all the way to their car and then pounded on the vehicle until they left. The city responded by advising people not to go into homeless encampments uninvited. Remember, this was outside of the COURTHOUSE and there are no-go zones where you may get chopped down for trying to get your stolen stuff back. I stay far FAR away from Seattle unless I absolutely have to go and the last time I was there I saw a guy living under a tarp playing with an Oculus.
