To all in the comment section who struggle with certain lures. I have one recommendation, do not bring any other lure with you only the lure you want to gain confidence with. I know it’s hard to do but fish it every day until you start to catch or get bit. Once you get a few bites the light bulbs go off and you will understand a little better. Granted there is a time and place for certain baits so keep that in mind.

And people have to learn certain lures work different in different countries and fish. There’s no such thing as a lure that doesn’t catch fish, it’s just not a thing. But there is using the wrong lure in the wrong situation, so learn the fauna that is in your bodies of water then get baits that have the same body plan and color of the fish.

I like the look of the Live target because it doesn't have that rigid submarine style fall. A dying bluegill will fall and lay over on its side.

@ratedredneck96
@ratedredneck96 4 жыл бұрын
I know this is a year old but have you tried bouncing it off rocks and stuff? Lipless cranks like rattle traps and stuff are pretty good at avoiding getting snagged on rocks so people will fish them deep and bang them off rocks and stuff to make a lot of racket. Its not for timid fish, its for the hungry sallies that it bounces by clacking off everything that bite off agression.

It helps if you give the savage gear bluegill a small jerk at the end. It causes the bait to turn around completely and if there’s a bass following it, it will trigger a reaction strike
@FishingWithYakPak

Good to know that as well! That will 100% trigger a reaction bite like you said. 👌🏼

Love these types of videos! Really gives you a good sense as to how baits work before going out and spending money on them to. Another thought to think about though as we compare and analyze these baits is to watch a natural version of the bait see how it actually swims and then compare the realism of it. Natural and erratic moving baits all have their time and place. I dont remember ever seeing a bluegill use its entire body to swim but more of a tail flick. Just food for thought

First let me say, above all else, awesome video!! Super helpful, awesome content, well done. More of these type vids would be awesome. One question though, in cold water temps , would the live target be a better choice because it does have less action? As far as baits in the pool, I'd like to see keitech fat baits vs. The Jackall Rythm wave or something like that.
@FishingWithYakPak

I have yet to catch a fish on a jig or chatterbait. Going to focus on those this spring. As far as other baits to demo in the pool, maybe compare different types of stick baits to show the different action or lack thereof. Senko vs. Trick Worm Vs. Slim Shake worm.

Chris McFarland if you find a bed this spring, toss a jig or chatterbait in there and I promise you’ll catch one. Catching fish on jigs is just having confidence man. I don’t catch jig fish that often as well, but the chatterbait is different. That’s one on my go-to’s for pond fishing.

They have these at my ollies store and they are discounted to like 5 and some are 6 or 7 bucks. I bought 3 a bluegill, a golden shiner and a different shiner color. I think the savage looks less realistic because a swimming fish doesnt flail that hard swimming slowly. That much movement is usually seen in a fish swimming super fast and they still dont usually sorta oscilate that much. I have a 6 foot aquarium and my fish have darted off and they dont look like that. They keep a tight stream line body. Whether a bass can catch onto the difference idk, no clue. But the live target looked way more like what my fish do in my aquarium. Way too much head thrashing action from the savage. Also, which one will last longer? The savage being so thin in the 2 or 3 jointed places will probably end in a tail bite and ripping the lure in half when you set the hook. I feel like a bass would slqm both at the end of the day so im just gonna go with the one i think is tougher and thats the live target swimbait. A lot of bass can be scared off with a super loud thrashing lure ripping past them but a subtle bluegill swimming by almost sneaking by just seems like itd get slobber knocked, but thats just my two cents on the subject.

Garrett L. If it’s windy & kinda cloudy I will 99.99% pull out an all white spinnerbait. So do this, get you a 1/2 oz one in all white, with the willow leaf blades, and only put a trailer hook on it. That works best for me and it has for a very long time. With the weather warming up toss it closer to the bank and I’d like to say you’ll get bit. One thing you could do if you’re missing hooksets, when you feel the tug say (set the hook) in your head then set it. You may just have a ridiculously fast reaction time and may be pulling them straight from them before they can chomp it. One last thing to keep in mind, they may be swiping at it to (wound/kill) it before actually committing to fully grabbing it.

Wow, thanks. Yeah, most of the fish I’ve seen have followed it right up to the bank, and swiped at it. I’ve even had fish attack it at the surface and totally miss it somehow. I have hooked a few, but they always seem to get off. I’ll definitely keep at it tho. Thanks much👍👍

In my experience, putting a trailer hook on a spinner bait can be almost useless because it increases snags and gives the fish a better chance to throw the bait. I'm not saying I hate trailer hooks, I just don't use them on spinnerbaits very often due to some bad experiences. The best tips for throwing spinnerbaits that I can give you are these: 1. Always make sure your skirt is no longer than where the hook bend extends. 2 when burning a willow leaf, the visual effect can cause an early hookset. I've done this several times and came back missing skirt strands. Just train yourself to give about two seconds after the initial thump to give a hookset. 3 don't lean in to it like a trebled lure. The wire arm also serves as a weed guard and it can become an obstruction. Really hammer into the bite like you would a jig.

I'm new to bass fishing, so I'm struggling with just about all baits and how to fish them. I'm not sure if I should just be reeling them in or doing some weird twitching or popping or what. I've been searching KZbin and have found a few videos that kinda show what to do. I'm more of a visual person, as pose to hearing how to do something. But I'm learning.

Jaxx Skeliton I have a TON of videos just like this on the channel. Everything from senkos, to swimbaits. Please go give them a look, they will absolutely help you out because you can see what I’m doing and you can see how the bait looks under water.

Live target looks more realistic to me, I have never seen fish moving like a snake :) I guess both are good for different conditions: live target is for cold and savage gear is for warm temp.

Twitch twitch pause (2-4 seconds) then repeat as needed. Fish it alllllll the way back in because you never know how long the fish will follow it until it decides to bite. I’ve caught them when the frog hit the water, all the way to me about to lift it out of the water and re cast.

Tanner Collins with jigs, it’s just patience. Stick to natural colors. Something that works best for me and a lot of people will talk against this, but I don’t really use a trailer. I just Fish a solid black/blue jig.
