Aww he's so cute! Just a tip though: try to avoid using his name as a form of rebuke because dogs can then associate it negatively. I just like to stick to 'no' with my own dog and then use his name to praise/call him instead :)

I guess it depends on the type of dog, I had a Rottweiler for 9yrs and he went off the tone in my voice to know what was good and bad. Just changing my tone of his name he knew either he was in trouble or not. But the NO! either way needs to be strong, Loud, hard and not in your praising/happy voice.

Thank you for adopting a rescue from Puerto Rico! I already thought it was great that you were rescuing but it really warmed my heart to hear that he was from PR and that he went to a loving home. After the hurricane, we couldn't take care of all the animals on the island and i heard that a lot were taken to the US so I'm glad that they are finding real homes

When I leave my pupper alone I let him know I’ll be back , I think it helps him understand to not worry I’ll return soon :)

my dog was rescued from Puerto Rico too! She came from one of the big hurricanes they had! She actually had a broken leg and it was never healed so now she walks a little funny. She’s the best thing to ever happen to me!

So excited that you ADOPTED!!! I think Dobby probably needs more outdoor time, a lot of times when dogs are overactive or act out it’s because they need more exercise. I also would avoid Not leaving him home alone. It’s important to be able to teach that being left at home is ok otherwise he’ll get separation anxiety in the future every time you do have to leave him alone. also positive reinforcement is the best way to train!!! I hope you grow a strong bond with your doggy

Awww he's so cute!!!! Look into crate training, if you're worried about leaving him home alone! My dog gets kongs and treats she never gets when she's in her crate :) so she loves it, and it's a great tool to use

I think a small kitchen island would be perfect for your apt! One that you can put bar stools on one side. It can act as a dining table and extra counter space for food prep. Some also have storage! My apartment layout is similar to yours and getting the island was LIFE CHANGING!

My dogs a rescue and when we first got him he could not be left on his own (abandonment issues), we just gave him a treat before we left and did it slowly, increasing the time we left him every time x it was a very slow process but definitely worth it because he gets so much less stressed when we have to go out

Getting a crate and crate-training your pup is a super helpful tool and you'll be able to leave him alone for longer periods of time, and let him sleep in there too so that it becomes his safe space! And make sure to bring him to the vet soon, since he is a rescue. So cute, congratulations!
