Living Forest has deck building as its primary board game mechanic, which is typically something I don’t get very excited about anymore these days. Nevertheless, Living forest, for 2-4 players, has certain appeal for players of all ages and since these cards don’t have any words (as is the case with Dominion) it makes the game accessible to younger kids. I had to try it out, and to my surprise, it has much more going on than I initially gave it credit for.

2:36: I believe a newly acquired card does not go into your discard, but on top of your draw deck, meaning you will immediately draw it on your next turn.

Great job, I was completely disinterested in another nature game until I watched your review. This game features several sweet spots. Thank you.

Man, do I know what you mean. When I first saw the game “Oak”, I thought: I don’t think I ever want to play another game featuring a tree… But I do think low expectations are a great setup for being impressed.

Great overview. This game is right up my alley. Although, I do own many MANY deck builders. I like deck building more as a part of the game, not the whole game. Still it is one of my favorite mechanisms.

Thank you! So, I play a lot of popular titles, but since you are more of a specialist, I’d be curious to hear your favorite UNDERrated deck builder.

Just to clarify, the black symbols are called solitary and it's the white ones that are called gregarious.

Good review. Do you find most games are won with fire tokens? Thanks

I win most games with trees, but I think it depends on how everyone else plays. Fire tokens only come up often if everyone is buying lots of cards and not doing their part to put out fires. Trees have a limited supply. If everyone is going for trees, the supply will run out faster. It really just depends.

@@theperfectboardgame thanks for your reply because it was putting me off buying it if it was an obvious easy win each time but it sounds like it does go various ways 👍🏻
