Living funerals - where a funeral is held for a person who is still alive - are becoming more popular in the UK.
But while they are often held for those nearing death that is not always the case.

What a weird thing to say. Funerals are still held for people who were lost at sea, or whose bodies were carbonized to ashes in a fire. The body doesn't have to be there. Funerals are for the living so they can mourn together. They're not for the dead, the dead don't care.

Confronting - Courageous - Sensible. The one "advantage” of a terminal illness is the ability to truly put one’s affairs in order and to do something amazing like this. How wonderful to be surrounded by such love and enjoy quality time together accepting one’s mortality by genuinely celebrating one’s life while recalling many of its highlights. It also means the post mortem funeral can be simplified potentially allowing for a more intimate wake or less busy more intimate Shiva house.
