Living Histories: In Conversation with Jenna Gribbon

Artist Jenna Gribbon speaks with Deputy Director and Peter Jay Sharp Chief Curator Xavier F. Salomon about the third installment of “Living Histories: Queer Views and Old Masters,” on view through May 22, 2022. Jenna discusses engaging critically with the history of art, enlivening the Old Masters through the lens of the camp aesthetic, and disrupting the Frick’s traditional displays of husbands, wives, and male rivalry through her painting “What Am I Doing Here? I Should Ask You the Same,” a powerful portrait of her partner created in response to the work of Hans Holbein.

Sorry to see the Frick toady up to WOKE ideology - of course always tasteful and thoughtful and measured always keeping its eye on the great culture it represents.
