This is so encouraging to watch❤️ My husband and I live in a 1Bed/1Bath apt and are not in a place to buy a house or a bigger appt. we were not planning for a baby yet and my living situation has caused so much guilt and anxiety but this video has encouraged me that it is possible and we aren’t alone. Thank you

I live in a bedroom. 2 adults working. And I am now very positive I am not the only one. But God is good. I have love and I have set up area for my baby. And has everything the baby needs in a storage when he is born. But such is life. This makes me do a channel and share. It's all about organization.

When we found we're pregnant, we panicked! Started looking for a home but after thinking logically, it felt so rushed. Living in a one bedroom apartment is not so bad. I'm due next year and this video helped a lot. Can't wait to post a video of my one bedroom apartment baby set-up. It feels good to know I'm not the only one

Thank you sooooo much for this! My husband and I were planning on moving at the end of our lease, but due to unexpected financial issues we're having to postpone for one more year. Our baby girl will be 9 months when we finally do move into a bigger place. This video has helped me so much!

Would also love to hear how your partner is feeling about living in 1 bedroom, I am sure there are some challenging aspects for them as a father/partner, would love some honesty on what those are so we can anticipate and predict if it’s worth going through them in our relationship. Thank you friend!

Omg it’s so awesome I found this! I’m 18 weeks and pregnant with a baby Ezra too and my husband and I live in a one bedroom and I was freaking out about not having enough space. I even considered giving him my bedroom and making my living room into my bedroom but I think it’s fine to have him in his little pack n okay corner. 🧡
@BrittanyTran
@BrittanyTran 2 жыл бұрын
yes! it totally works especially since in the beginning they recommend having the baby in your room anyway and it makes the night wakings easier to feed and take care of them. I will say that once Ezra turned 1 and was able to pull himself up in the pack n play and could look over the pack n play it was time for us to move to a 2 bedroom and give him his own room because otherwise he could see us when he would wake up.

Also, your video made me think about how expensive life can be in other cities! Like, you’re a lawyer and most people tend to think that all lawyers live in huge houses with 5 bedrooms. I watched your video talking about the cost of life over there and I wondering if you guys plan on moving out of the Bay Area eventually or not.. have a nice day!! I love your videos!!
@BrittanyTran
@BrittanyTran 2 жыл бұрын
haha I think it's because most lawyers work in big law firms and probably make what people think of when they think of lawyers (I work in house so don't make as much and am not as high on the corporate ladder :P). we also like to live a bit below our means so while we could afford a bigger place we chose not to. no plans to move out of California but maybe to Southern California...either way we definitely plan to get at least a 2 bedroom in the near future since Ezra is becoming more aware of his surroundings and it's a bit hard to tip toe every night when he's sleeping (and not being able to go into the room when he's taking naps or asleep).

Nice. Even if the child reaches 7 you can manage in 1 bedroom. I was watching a documentary the other day. Of a family that lives on a boat. Basically husband,wife, grandma and 2 kids. Boat is tiny and yet humans adapt. You save so much more money by just living without and enjoying ur family. The old days people had bunkbeds. These days they give every kid a bedroom but 18 years later the parents have to downgrade house. Don't think any1 needs more than 2 bedroom if they have 3kids.

This is reassuring...I'm going from a 1050 sq ft 2bd/2ba to a 550 sq ft 1br/1ba with a 10mt old🤦🏾‍♀️...feel like I'm going backwards; but figured I can set the bedroom up for him and I'll tailor the living room for me with a queen size pull out sleeper sofa 🛋️

Hi Brittany! Your video was very helpful as my husband and I are expecting our first baby (son) in our 1 bedroom apartment. I've been trying to decide if a pack and play with a bassinet is best since that pack n play can easily be a temporary crib til we have the room to get one. Where did you buy the mattress to fit the pack n play?
@BrittanyTran
@BrittanyTran 2 жыл бұрын
I am so glad that we got the pack n play because my 16 month old still uses it and it's easy to travel with or bring to my parents house etc. I bought the hiccapop mattress for the pack n play. www.hiccapop.com/products/pack-n-play-mattress-dual-sided-for-babies-and-toddlers If I had to do it over I might have gotten the foldable one so it's easier to travel with but for everyday use this is great.

I wish my bedroom was big enough to fit a crib... I live with my boyfriend in a one bedroom as well, but we can literally only fit our bed and a high dresser that's not large enough to use as a changing table (much like the one you have in the background. I've been trying to look for 2 bedroom apartments but the renting prices are so high in my country, it's impossible to be able to afford moving. I don't know what to do.

What size bed do you have? Maybe downsize (we have a full size bed) and see if you can find a small bassinet for the time being or a mini crib? There might be some cribs or pack n plays that are smaller than the one I have.

Thank you so much for this video. I have a 6 mos baby and am moving to New York and don’t want to spend 3k for a 2 BR apt. Are you still in this place?or, For how long were you able to be there ?
@BrittanyTran
@BrittanyTran 2 жыл бұрын
we were able to last until he was about 15 mos. old. When he was older and able to stand up in his pack n play it definitely became a little more difficult because when he would wake up in the mornings before 7am he could potentially see us but the room was dark enough that I don't think he noticed. However, I didn't feel like I could easily move around in the mornings for fear he would see me. Or, when we were going through the 12 month sleep regression he would have night wakings and it was a little loud and I also felt like I couldn't move for fear of disturbing him. at that point I also just wanted my own space back. however, it's definitely doable up until a year or even more with just a few inconveniences.

This was helpful. When did you move his bedtime to 7/7:30? I have a one month old.
@BrittanyTran
@BrittanyTran 6 ай бұрын
for the most part his bedtime is usually 8 based on wake windows of his last nap. During some transition times he may sleep around 7/7:30 but usually I time his naps for him to wake up at 7 and sleep at 8.

Hi Brittany, great content as always..I guess my question for today is regarding wether your husband/ the baby's father is a you tuber such as yourself? Was wondering if maybe social media is not his cup of tea. In any event it would be great to have your husband's perspective as it relates to his contribution to the baby's living arrangements.

Hi - now that it has been a year or so, could you please comment on the cons of living in a 1 bedroom? My fiancé and I need to make a decision in the next 2 weeks if we will stay in 1 bedroom or move to 2 bedroom, and I’d love to hear the not so great things about spending whole year living in 1 bedroom. Someone else mentioned after 6 months baby starts to craw / can’t be in the crib as much and needs more space/ entertainment do you find this to be true? Other downsides? Has baby been able to sleep in pack and play crib for 1 year? Some say only 6 months is ok then you move to a wooden bigger crib. Lmk soon :) thank you Silicon Valley neighbor!

before I start, I wanted to mention that when ezra turned 14 mos we moved to a 2 bedroom. i think your experience will also depend on the layout of your 1 bedroom and also your working situation. my husband and i were both working from home during the pandemic so we were home with our baby, which definitely made it a little more stir crazy towards the end. I would say my number one con was not be able to use my room when he napped (which in the beginning was a lot) and when he first went down to sleep at night. We had a very uncomfortable couch in the living room and no TV so it wasn't that comfy to hang out after baby went to sleep. Our desk was also in the living room so we could work during the day so if my husband and i both had a meeting and my baby was sleeping one of us had to be in the kitchen or dining area and sound traveled a lot, which was tough. The other con was when ezra started standing in his pack n play, he could technically see us sleeping next to him. it was pretty pitch black because of the blackout curtains but it still made me nervous and i was always afraid I would wake him up by moving around or if my husband looked at his phone at night it would wake him up. it's also hard during the sleep regressions because you have to hear him crying (and if you do sleep training, they recommend you sleep outside for that week because the crying might become too difficult). we never had issues with awake time though since in the beginning he would do tummy time in our bedroom and i would watch him and we would also do feedings in the bedroom while my husband worked when i was on maternity leave. when he got older and started crawling and rolling, we moved him out into the living room to play and basically he took up the entire living room (another con because it will feel cluttered unless you clean up every night like we did and then you don't have much extra space). All in all though it was definitely doable. I think the other cons I mentioned weren't even that bad to be honest. I liked that we were always in the same room and it made working from home and watching him easier in the beginning because he would just lay there and I could get work done or he wasn't drawn to the laptop screen yet. When he started pulling to stand around 9 months he started to get fussy with the laptop screens so we had to distract him if one of us was working. So I am glad now that we have a 2 bedroom where we can work and close the door and he has his own room with all his toys and his pack n play. He is still in his pack n play and there are no issues, you just stop using the bassinet feature when they outgrow that and we got him a thicker mattress to be more comfy. another note about having a 1 bedroom is you have to plan ahead, like if i need something in the bedroom i would get it before his nap or before bedtime or if i had to pack, i would pack when he is awake since i couldn't do it at night after he goes to bed. there's also no sleeping in, lol since once he is up you are up. with regards to your question about my husband's POV, he is actually the one who wanted to stay in a 1 bedroom since he likes to be frugal and more "efficient" as he says. I think he also found the cons I mentioned above slightly inconvenient but he didn't really have any issues. I think once Ezra turned 1, he agreed that it was time for him to have his own room and space and he likes that he has his own room with toys instead of being in the living room. He also likes that we have our own room again to hang out in, do work in, and relax in after ezra goes to sleep. Sorry this was long! I hope I gave you a better idea of what it was like being in a 1 bedroom :)

@@mmitkova1 we're still renting! the housing market isn't worth it for us to buy right now. my husband also did the math and he said that to make purchasing a house worth it versus renting you would need to live in the house for 7-10 years and we are not sure if we want to live in the bay area long term so we don't want to be tied down to a house. but everyone's situation is different, however, the housing market just seems crazy right now!

not planning to buy a house anytime soon but we might move when our lease is up so Ezra can have his own room as he's getting older. I actually am not sure if it's an air purifier, I think it's just a heater/fan combo. we like it because it does a good job and warms up a small space and since we got it used it wasn't as expensive.
