My dad used one of these big military tents to camp in when he went elk hunting. There was always snow on the ground where we hunted in Eastern Oregon -- in high country. My brother and I always helped set up the tent -- AFTER DARK by car light. We would clear the snow away to bare ground and then throw bailed hay on the ground to keep the heat in and the cold out. Dad had a big pot belly wood stove for heat. He left it in the same place year after year because it was too heavy and bulky and load and unload all the time. Once the firewood burned down in the wee hours of the morning, no one wanted to get out of their sleeping bags to stoke up the fire. Once it was time to get up to get ready to go hunting, someone had to get out of their warm sack and fire up the stove. I was the youngest so I got "volunteered" the most. Those were some of the best memories I have of my dad and brother. That was back in the late 1950's. I'm now 75 1/2 so that was quite some time ago. Thanks for making the video. Loved it! Brings back fond memories.

My wife and I have lived in a 16X32 US Army command tent for the past decade. We live in the Ozark's and heat with wood and cool with fans. We have seen 70 mile an hour winds, -12 degree to 107 degree temperatures. BTW we are 84 and 83 and married for 67 years, so enjoy your camping trip before you go home to your home with central air and heat.

That's an awesome tent Val, looked like it'll stand up to all weather conditions, plus the stove can be used to cook on so that a bonus. Really interesting with what you're doing on your project, I wish you all the best with it and I hope things can get moving a bit quicker and sooner for you, cheers chris

What kind of stove is that? I'd like to look into getting one.
@ValDKemp3 жыл бұрын
It's a workshop stove made by a company in Romania, I don't know if they send worldwide. If you're interested I can send you the link, pm me on my email.

Am very interested in that model of tent......what is it and if could ask, how much was it $ ?
@ValDKemp3 жыл бұрын
It's romanian army tent, quite hard to find one. It's around 1000$

I don’t know if you’ll see this comment but I was wondering how much this Tent cost and what it’s called. It looks perfect for the land my family always go camping at.
@ValDKemp3 жыл бұрын
It's a Romanian military tent, and it's not easy to find one. They are not issued anymore. The price is around 800€. You can check at military surplus stores, you may find something similar.
@anthonyhoughton66252 жыл бұрын
It looks very similar to the British 12 x 12, or 9 x 9 (which it more than likely matches size wise).

What type of canvas top did you use is it milspec surplus or a civilian knockoff and what was it frpm
@ValDKemp3 жыл бұрын
It's a canvas military tent, quite old. It lost some of its properties like waterproofness, I had to put a tarp on it.
