Slovenia isn't cheap at all....Italia and Spain for instance are cheaper....maybe somewhere in the nowhere you can find cheap meals and hostels.....Slovenia is the richest Slavic countrie and as I remember the human development index in 2023 is before Austria,France, Italy and regarding life quality index is on 16 place in the world....realy clean and organized country....nice channel.... Slovenia is beautiful indeed....❤❤❤❤😊😊😊😊

That lasagne looks soooo good, I feel like having some now! 🤤 As someone who's first language isn't English, I really appreciate you taking the time to learn some basic words. 😃 People really appreciate it. Often people just assume that someone will be able to speak English, but not all countries do. I think what you are doing is very considerate. ❤ And yes, easy mistake to make... Slovenia... Slovakia. 🤔 That's how we learn! Travelling teaches us a lot and I love it.

Thank you 😝 and I totally understand that, I always ask if they can speak English now because it feels so wrong to assume. Luckily google translate has made life so much easier! Especially when you can talk in the mic and it translates, we’ve had many conversations through it now 😂❤️

Thank you! We’re staying for a few days in this part of Slovenia, Lake Bled next it’ll be easier to stay for longer in a spot when we leave Slovenia just because of wild camping being illegal, we’ve managed to navigate it with the free park ups but they aren’t near very much. But we’ll be showing you more out and about now I hope! 😊 thanks 🥰❤️

Zdravo (hello in slovenian). Celje, can be pronounced as Tselje (ts sound is similar to how we say C in Slovene, the j is pronounced similarly to y in English). Also Google translate can be hit or miss with Slovene just FYI it's pronounces the words in English not Slovene. Your neighbourhood Slovenian signing out.🎉

Ahhh thank you, google translate has some catching up to do on the Slovene front 😂

Some words and letter can be weird to non Slovene or non slavic speakers. You can get by in English with almost no problem in most areas of Slovenia 🇸🇮. Enjoy the rest of your stay.

That lake you were at the start, is called Šmartinsko jezero, and It's a man made lake, from 1970 as means, at least at the time, to protect Celje against floods from the river Savinja, at least the kinds of major floods Celje experienced in the past. Of course, later one, additional steps were taken to protect the city from floods, with the most recent being completed just last year in 2023, when a large area by the river, on the western part, was dug out, to create a floodplain.

@AlwaysAway8 ай бұрын
We love travelling around Europe, I’m not sure how van friendly Ireland is but in the SE of England where we’re from it’s soo difficult for vanlife. European countries make it so much easier with loads of free parkups and €1 electric, we scour park4night for places to sleep and you’ll find amazing places easily! Because you can wild camp so easily it makes it so much cheaper. Germany is the most van friendly place we’ve been, I’d definitely recommend going there as one of your first countries to get used to vanlife in Europe 😊
@touringaroundwithrosie8 ай бұрын
Sounds great, definitely something worth checking out. I would never have actually thought of Germany being so van accessible so that is brilliant to know! Ireland is actually very vanlife friendly with lots of park ups and sites, it's just a pity with our caravan we can't avail of many of them. Which is why we are doing our conversion. If you are ever planning a trip to Ireland we'd be happy to recommend a few spots. :)
@AlwaysAway8 ай бұрын
I imagine it’d be difficult wild camping with a caravan so I totally get the conversion! While it might cost a bit doing your van up at least you can save money on campsites along the way! 😊 would love to visit Ireland soon, I’ll definitely drop you a message when we do for some recommendations 😝💖

@AlwaysAway8 ай бұрын
We were vegetarian for a few years but it was quite difficult when we got to Thailand so we went back to it, but now we’re back I’m gradually eating meat less again, I’m not a fan of cooking with it after years of cooking veggie food! 30 years is amazing! I’m surprised how close all the countries are, it only took around an hour to make it across most of Slovenia!
@Kristen-kp6dh8 ай бұрын
I have 3 kids 14, 19 and 25. I never forced vegetarian on them because I personally feel it is their own choice if want to be. My oldest surprised me when he told me is vegetarian too about a year ago.

That campsite is lovely and Slovenia looks so beautiful and green! I can't get over the fact that they have campsites with free utilities. Are the parking spot fees at the campsites comparable to other places, or are they charging more in spot fees to cover the free water and electric? Also those mini lasagna dishes are so cute 😄
@AlwaysAway8 ай бұрын
It’s lovely here! And we had no idea there’d be all these free spots, it’s great! The campsite was around 30 euros and it’s right near the city center so it seems pretty typical in price, thats with water and electric included and they have a swimming pool too?! And thanks 😄

I’m watching while making Mac and cheese with tomato soup. Not so fancy. But maybe to show my ignorance… what is white sauce? Hehe We’ve always heard that it’s the stereotype that it’s Americans who are known for running around the world shouting English at everyone, not the British. We were always told to put Canadian flags on our stuff so no one would mistake us for Americans. 😂 But what do I know, I’ve never left North America/Caribbean!
@Stephen-up3sd8 ай бұрын
Hi Chrisy - the sauce is also called bechemel in some places - it’s the standard sauce used for lasagne - you can also use it for Mac & Cheese!
@AlwaysAway8 ай бұрын
Yeah it’s probably not far off what you’re having in your Mac and cheese! And haha in Europe the English are known for bad behaviour thanks to people getting absolutely plastered and acting like hooligans, especially in Spain. I think that’s why I’m finding the positive reception from people so surprising here, in some countries closer to England you really don’t get that 😂

@DamianP-n7b8 ай бұрын
But they generally don't roam around Ljubljana and other touristy locations. If you want to see some bears then you must go to "their" region.
@anjacrne11067 ай бұрын
That's right.. The bears are just in their region.. You can't see one in Ljubljana.. Exept in a ZOO. 😉 I'm living here all my life and I didn't saw them in natural habitat yet. I tried to find them. Even in the parts where they do live, but at most, I found just tracks.. Even when camping in their habitat, I didn't had the luck of seeing them.. They ussually go away from people. When we camped there, we just for safety, moved the food away from us, but it was fine. We and the food.. 😉 Here it is normal to see a bear sometimes, if you live in their region, but otherwise it is quite rare to see them.. They stay in their enviroment and really really rarely get lost and come to the outskirts of Ljubljana. In my 30+years that ocassions that I know they came out of their expected enviroment, are count on one hand, so you don't have to worry much about them. Especially not in the middle of Ljubljana, in the center of Ljubljana, BTC and so on.. 😉 If you go in Kočevje for example, or some other part where they are constant, then you should be more carefull, but with apropriate actions you are not in danger even there. Normally, and if you act aproprietly, they are not dangerous and they move away.
