Don't fret over the glare on the cabinets. It doesn't bother me or hurt anything. I was so nervous when you put the hose in the pots!!! Honey I would've had an overflow for sure!!!!! I'd have to stay right beside it. I get distracted too easy lol. I live in Kansas. In the winter we have to cut off the water to the hose so they don't freeze. Wondering what you do in the winter. Thanks for taking the camera along! XO

I live in Kansas too and two winters ago my husband left the water on to the hose, we had a pistol nozzle that shuts off when you release it and he forgot to shut it off at the faucet which comes out of the side of our house. Well it busted the pipe in the basement. Luckily I heard the water and got it shut off. Now he makes sure the water is off and the hoses are removed.

I love your cozy simple mobile home. I grew up living simple, using kerosene lamps, wood heat for heating and cooking. No running water, no fancy furniture, no luxuries. Raising our own food. Chickens, cows, pigs, goats, and growing a huge vegetable garden, canning and preserving everything. Life was simple, no struggling to keep up with or out do others. We were happy, we loved God, each other and we helped others. Life isn’t about what you have or don’t have. It’s about trusting God and having faith that He will get you through the rough times, using what you have wisely, being kind, loving and helping others.

This is what we need to do and see. Facebook and KZbin make normal people feel they’re the only ones with problems and that live in stressful situations. Social media has become depressing to most for the reason that people show falsehoods. Well done Tessie. I watch because I like honest posts, about things that are real, matter and inspire. I wish other KZbin people would take a leaf out of your book.❤️

A Lot of people afraid to show their real life in doing so you open up the world to people who can be very cruel and mean by opening up my life in this way Some will say I'm trying to look for for pity when all reality is I'm just trying to share my life to encourage other people Who have a hard life in certain areas some people would say that I have it very easy other people would say I have it very hard.I do wish people would not show so much the rehearsed Life and show real living But I also understand why they don't as well

I used to always be in awe of people's kitchens while they canned, or right after. Everything looked so PERFECT! My kitchen is small, not much counter space, and it looks as if a bomb went off, after I finish canning. Then someone told me they "stage" the kitchen so it always looks amazing. Sorry, but I live a real life, not staged, and it's messy and cluttered.

I agree. MOST people, money or no money, small or large house, live in similar ways. I am kind of shocked she made a big deal of this. Sure, the hot water situation may not be what many people deal with, but it is not as uncommon as she would have you believe. Hot water heaters are expensive. People deal with other items breaking that are just as important. My sister and her husband (family made over $200,000 a year) had a washer that made so much noise and "walked" as it washed and they kept it until it "threw a rod". We laughed so hard. She hung clothes to dry because the dryer didn't dry properly. So what? She lives in a gated neighborhood. Her next door neighbor has mold all on the outside of his big beautiful home. Their expensive HOA is sending him letters. Is Tessie in thy he REAL world because she is NOT so uncommon. LOL

My landlord cannot afford to fix it & I can't afford rent, he's happy to have someone here & I fix as I can. I've lived here without water, without electric & without heat at times. I have to find creative ways to stack things here and there to cook or bake AND I cannot have more than one person at a time in it. It cracks me up when I hear people on these HGTV shows say they cannot buy the house or they will gut the kitchen because it's "too small". LOL. So what? LOL. Tessie, your honesty is so comforting and refreshing. I don't mean to be dismissive of the problems you have to work with every day, but the one great thing about your situation is that (unless I'm really mistaken) you cannot possibly be evicted from your home. That is such a blessing. So many people live in more luxurious surroundings, but run the risk of going into foreclosure if they can't make the mortgage payment or being tossed out if they can't pay the rent. You know that what you have -- however simple -- is all yours.

That's so true....my neighbors bought a beautiful new home...with a variable interest rate loan. This was right before the big housing crisis of 2008--when the bottom dropped out. Their variable rate loan caused their house payment to TRIPLE...which they could not afford. It went into foreclosure, and they had to leave it, after only a few months of having it. My home is humble and simple...but it was all paid off years ago. We never know what's coming down the pike with the economy, banks, etc, Best to get out of debt now--and get things paid off ASAP.

We just came through hurricane Zeta, and we had no power for 5 days. We had running water only. The oil lamps came in very handy, and I cooked on our camp stove, or the grill. I had to boil water outside to take a splash “shower” with a basin in the tub. Everyone was running to peoples houses who had power to shower, but I preferred to stay home and make do with what we had. It takes much more time to live this way, but it is very peaceful! “

Also want to suggest since she uses two 5 gallon buckets to catch the sink water that they put a male adapter each bucket around 2 inches from the bottom, then have a Y adapter to connect small hoses from both buckets, then a garden hose that also runs from inside under the sink to the outside. California has had some bad drought years and we made a grey water set up for our washing machine, using a Rubbermaid garbage can with a male hose adapter three from the bottom on one side, which we attached a garden hose to. We then allowed the water we collected in the garbage can to run thru the hose outside where we used the water for the garden. In the bottom of the garbage can we has once inch of sand and one inch of fine gravel which acted as a filtering system. Because we use environmentally safe Dr. Bronner's liquid soap for laundry it was safe for watering the garden. We also drilled a hole in the garbage can lid to put the washing machine drain hose thru, which we also had a sock attached to to collect any lint etc. Won me second place in a local newspaper contest on not wasting water during a drought. Most folks in my area have wells, but even if you have a well you do NOT want to waste water. Have also used the rinse water from washing clothes to refill the washer for the next load of wash. No sense in wasting good rinse water.

When I left my last relationship I ended up in an apartment building that I can't afford the electricity in but it was the only place open when I needed to have a roof over my head. I knew going in to this agreement for the apartment that I wasn't going to be able to really afford a lot of electricity so I made changes to the way I live so I could still be able to forward enough electricity to use my power chair. So I use very very little electricity in fact when people come to my apartment manager and say that they can't afford the electricity bill I need ways to reduce the cost of it she refers them to me. what I like to be able to use more electricity yes could I technically be able to use more electricity yes because technically everything works here. However finances dictate that I have to be very very strict on my electricity which includes hot water. I don't use hot water again because the more electricity I use the higher the bill and I'd rather be able to use my power chair than have other amenities. So for lights I use solar power from the Dollar Tree, a solar battery pack for my phone which has a camping light on it which brightens my room up so I can read or write in the evening. And I have four oil lamps but only one is working right now. And I'm always working on ways to manage my bills to get them as low as possible seeing that I'm on a very low fixed income.

Hi, Tessie, right video on the right day😉... I grew up partly like this, so when I went on my first camping tour, everybody (including me😁) was astonished, how easy I could deal with everything in free nature. Same with gardening. It’s as if it’s in my genes... Of course I perfectly know that this way of life is more work and sometimes annoying, especially on cold or rainy days. You are a Braveheart, thank you for sharing. It’s so hard to start...and there’s pressure, because you know, you have to. During summertime I consider my garden as a second outdoor living room, but now the summer is over and if I look around I see, that my indoor living room needs help... I know, what you mean with the book mountains...📚, but I love them so much, and I’ve even prepared all my Christmas books: I’ll find a nice basket for them. And another for my Christmas knitting and crocheting. I’m so messy while working on projects, there’s always a half circle of needed things around me... Like you I love old magazines and it’s always looking so cozy, if they show how to do projects... that’s the difference between staged and real life I guess. Thank you for inviting me, ok, up with the sleeves💪, I can do it. And always remember to have a little pause : tomorrow is another day. Love, Monika❣️

Tessie this makes me feel good, I have lots of little projects, embroidery, crafts, books and magazines and they are all half finished. So I try to put them all together in the same area. When I was young, we lived in a mobile home and my Dad got a used washing machine. He hooked up the drain to the septic tank but we had to run the hose in the window to fill it up for washing and rinsing. We were on a water well so there was no water pressure and it took a while. It sure was better than going to the washeteria. Now that I have a heavy duty washing machine my husband bought me, I sometimes, find myself saying out loud, “I love this washing machine”. It just makes us appreciate the simple things and necessities of life. Your home is inviting and so reminds me of the wonderful, secure, and happy home, I had when I was a kid. One of my sisters after she married and moved out decided to not have running water in the house at all. They raised 3 kids that way. She kept a cleaner house than anyone with the exception of our momma. She said it was better on the environment by not wasting running water. Which I do waste a lot of water because it is just easy to turn on the faucet for any little thing. Now we have built a large rain catchment to supply our house. We will live off of it and have to watch our usage closely. Thank you for the great encouragement!

Very real video - many more people live the way you do than we would like to admit. There are only 2 things I would change based on my physical capabilities: 1 - I'd get a mop to wash the floors, maybe at the thrift store? You don't need a Swiffer, just a plain sponge mop and you can use old towels cut to size. 2 - I'd figure out a way to get DIY plumbing to get the sink water outside so you don't have to lug the buckets. Even just PVC pipe exited to the outside to drain into buckets. I worry that if you pull a muscle in your back, you'd not be able to carry the buckets. Looking forward to Part II

No need to apologize or be embarrassed. Many people have lived or are living this way. Sometimes things happen in life that are unexpected or cannot be helped. Bad things happen to good people. I think you are the hardest working person I’ve ever seen, and I’d rather live in a house like yours than have a big new house and the debt and expense that goes with it. I have a 1981 mobile home that I own free and clear, and there’s plenty of things that need fixed around here! But it’s just me here, by choice, and living on Social Security doesn’t leave much to make a lot of repairs & updates. Thankfully, I am blessed to have a couple wonderful friends and my family to help me if I need it. I wouldn’t trade my home for anything; I love it. Plus, I’ve got the Lord, and He ALWAYS provides everything I need. You are such a genuine, loving person, and it would be lovely to be your friend. We definitely need more people like you in the world Tessie! I so enjoy your channel! ♥️

A lived in home is a happy home. Tessie honey don't fret. Thank you for sharing you inspire us all. One thing I have noticed about house work is when I just get up early and tackle almost everything it really only takes me about 1 or 1 1/2 days and that's with 3 kids cooped up in the house with me 24/7 because we have homeschooled since before Covid and now are stuck at home even more since the pandemic. Anyway sharing your life good and bad is why we subbed. Hugs.

Americans evidently don't realize that on-demand hot water is not necessary for a comfortable life. In fact, it wastes water. I watch as people let perfectly good water run down the drain because it is not hot. I cringe and want to rescue the water. I read where the average American uses 100 gallons a day of water per person. On average, we use 100 gallons a week for a family. Where I live, most of our water is desalinated water from the ocean and is expensive. We don't live uncomfortably - we just do things differently. What you are doing is not a sign of poverty, it is a sign that you are not wasteful.

I agree! Here in Australia I collect that cold water before the hot water and use it for the garden, pot plants, flushing toilet, cooling hot sink water , soaking items ....many things need water that most people just automatically turn the tap on when they have just let it go down the drain earlier 💙💦
