Nederlanders en Vlamingen denken zelf dat we veel van elkaar verschillen. Door de ogen van iemand die van ver komt, zijn deze verschillen heel klein. Mooi om dat nog weer eens uitgelegd te hebben en dit te beseffen. Dankjewel!

While it is difficult for me to objectively say if we Dutch are very accepting/open, it is rather clear to me that we do not respond all that well to people trying to convert us or tell us what to do in general. Though this is of course relative and different per person, it is still a noticable trend and not limited to religion. A prime example for this would be the difference in attitude regarding hierarchy in companies between the Netherlands and for example Germany. Where in Germany there would be a bigger emphasis on the hierarchy and authority than there is in the Netherlands. I may not have worded this quite right, though I hope the general point is clear. Others can probably expand on this better than I could anyway.

Don’t think we are overly rule-abiding; it’s just that there’s so many of us, always too close for comfort: rules prevent us from bumping into each other all the time, be it literally or figuratively.

Can you give some tips on moving to this region? What type of jobs will increase my chances? What are ways to ease the process? If any Dutch or Belgians are reading this, would you mind giving me tips on living there or cultural things to keep in mind?

Dutch and Belgian are very different. There’s even a difference between (the more Protestant) northern part and the (more catholic) southern part of the Netherlands. The style of living in the south of the Netherlands looks a lot like the Belgium living style (only food, drink and hospitality).

flemish people are not direct though, historically we have always been ruled over, and so we had to survive so we are taught not to insult, but still it depends on where you go

Well, I’m a Belgian and I agree that the Dutch are very direct but believe me Belgians aren’t at all. We’re the best actors when it comes to saying we’re not interesting. We’re too polite to just say no. Well never do that. Yeah we’re definitely scared to break the rules hahahah. I never sit in first class cause I’d probably be shitting my pants because I’d think I would get caught. We have the most castles in the world in Belgium hahahah. Groceries stay open until 8, so you have two ours to go grocery shopping hahah. You’re Dutch is so cute💓

I thought Wales had the most castles in all of Europe, are you sure Belgium has the most castles in the world?
@olypav4593
@olypav4593 3 жыл бұрын
@@abcxyz-cx4mr yes, dear. Maybe it’s because Wales isn’t a country. Maybe it has more castles but is not a country. We have the most castles compared to our area. There are probably countries with more castles, but they are much bigger than Belgium. What I’m trying to say is that we have the most castles per hectare of land. I hope you get what I’m trying to say haha, it’s hard explaining this in English. Or it is because wales is not a country.

There is a big difference between the wwest of the netherlands and the east, the east isway more civilized, not so direct, and way less stressed...Amsterdam isn't really part of the netherlands culturally... So forget about that place..
