I am originally from Singapore and moved to the US for over 20 years, currently living in Scottsdale, AZ. I would retire in Thailand or Malaysia. Cameron Highland, Genting and Ipoh are my top choices in Malaysia. I would not retire in Singapore cos of the cost of living, lack of outdoor and hot weather. You got it right. Malaysians are very friendly people and they are real, just like Thais. You won't get fake smiles, like in some places in the developed world... where they don't really want you to be there.

Malaysia is good to visit because the currency is weak. If you are earning a meagre wage in Malaysia, you will not like it. There are about 1 million Malaysians working in Singapore because there are more jobs there and the currency is 3x higher. Singapore is just a tiny island but its economy is big. Malaysia is a 3rd world country with useless politicians

When you compare Cameron Highlands to Charlotte, North Carolina, is like comparing apples to oranges. It is like comparing NYC to Tucson, AZ. Cameron highlands is a small tourist town where Charlotte is a major city in NC. But I still like your KZbin video because you managed to give others a general perspective about how Malaysia is like in general. Our health care is a government runs' system, that's why you can get your medications so cheap. Overall, I'm really glad you enjoy Malaysia and hope you can come back and visit us again soon.

Cameron Highland is a district, while Tanah Rata is a small town... There are no supermarket & other entertainment (cinemas bowling alley), big hospital etc because it is a tourism & farmers community.. It's located 1-2 hours up in the mountain, so it's not worth it to build supermarket & big hospital etc because the community is small & the land value there is expensive as hell (tourism land plot).. If you said that your cost of living there is 900$ there, you probably can live with 500$ at Taiping (same cold climate as Cameron, because its always rain).. Lunch can be around $3 for 2 person...

Hi there, Glad that u guys enjoy your stay so far in the country. I went up to CH twice within the past 6 months, and I sure like the town a whole lot - the spring-like 70°f daytime weather being the most primary reason - i think i had easily walked about 10 km on a few days there. On this particular post, though, i thought any comparison btwn CH vs Charlotte is way too unequal and might just not reflect some of the finer realities; CH being a small outpost town on the hills and Charlotte being a pretty big american city esp within the two carolinas, and it even has an NBA franchise team (big enough tv market) etc.

I went to hospital and only paid for RM1 because I'm Malaysian. We put highly accommodation in health care thats netizen can afford to pay. I even get free medicine or cut off a lot of budgets on medicine as government pays for it ..... I got free COVID19 test as a student. 🤣 YEAY

i work in cameron 2 years. as someone who love nature, it is sad to see cameron highland has been battered with illegal farming, trees being cut and develop illegally, the river is poluted with farming chemical. u should check out he river to see the damage. Govermemt not doing enought to protect CH. it used to be very cool in CH and i believe the climate will get hotter very soon. too many greedy people and careless human and corrupt govt.

I born and raised in Cameron Highlands and totally agree with what KMZ said. And, it's a little over crowded during weekends and holidays in Cameron now. I miss my childhood Cameron Highlands. 😍 Actually, I studied and lived in Charlotte for about 12 years. I am so happy to see you introduced my hometown and compared it with Charlotte. Your observation is so true. I love both Charlotte and Cameron Highlands. These two places have a lot of my valuable memories. 😍😍🙏🙏

I won't say the healthcare is better. There is hospital here. But for basic healthcare. For more complex case, local need to go to nearest city. But one thing I like is in the hospital, absolutely no crowd. Only local go there and people knew each other. It is close community. You can call it as village. So the aura is positive and cheerful even for hospital. IThe medicine in hospital ony enough for the local who live there. Once I went there as tourist and we forgot our medicine, they don't have it.

Medicines are definitely cheaper in Malaysia, India was the cheapest I ever seen, one third or one fifth of Malaysian price. We use to get medicines from India for special cases as it is very much cheaper and no hassle. Thailand is also another place to get good prescription drugs without any hassle, cost almost same or even cheaper than Malaysia. Indonesia, Laos and Cambodia cost more . The Philippines is cheap but highly controlled but the counter staffs are very professional. I am not sure about Burma and Vietnam.
