A help to cut cost on the food. Buy the bread and butter, the meat, eggs and vegetables in the supermarked and then make Smørebrød yourself instead of paying the insane prices in these so called food markets. That way you can do a full meal for the price of one of theirs. And there will probably be both ryebread and meat over to use for a little snack in between meals or at night, just remember to keep it refrigerated and it will keep for a couple of days or even more. Some Danes more or less live on Smørebrød, so it is tested and approved. 😋😂

I agree with you! I enjoy making my own food and by making Smørebrød at home, I control the ingredients. We loved Denmark and the people there. Smørebrød is a special part of the country. Thanks for watching:)

The home swap was a big win. When you rented the bike, did you use the same one the entire time? I couldn’t tell if you drop it off each stop (like when you went to the store) and picked up a different bike or you’re guaranteed that one.
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 3 ай бұрын
Good question. The app lets us lock the bike with an electronic clamp. We had the same bikes but could change if desired. We did the three day rental, there are lower cost if you do a long term contract, however buying a used bike makes more sense if using it more than two weeks straight. If you are just doing a quick trip a 15 minute one way purchase is possible.

@@WarrenJulieTravel Buying a used bike can be a better option, but be aware that a lot of bikes are stolen in Copenhagen, especially if left without a really good lock. Whereas with rented bikes, theft isn’t really your concern, as they rarely get stolen due to tracking devices and other security features. For example, Donkey Republic uses tracking systems to ensure the safety of their bikes.

Capitals all over the world are always the most expensive ones. Regarding the Metro it is much cheaper to get a 3 days card, or the special turist card. The rest of Denmark is much cheaper for groceries and stuff. Try rent a car and drive to e.g. nord Jutland like to Råbjerg knude or Skagen. Enjoy
@WarrenJulieTravel
@WarrenJulieTravel 2 ай бұрын
We should have opted for a one-month metro card, but live and learn:) Groceries did seem a bit more reasonable outside of Copenhagen. Thanks for watching.

Go to the touristy places you gonna pay touristy prices... Like someone else wrote buy you bread and coldcuts in supermarkets and assemble the smørrebrød on your own. Alternatively you can buy 3-packs with many different kind of smaller smørrebrød. Buy a 10 kr bottled beer and sit in one of the many parks or on the pier instead of a 100 kr draft beer in Nyhavn. All tourists go to the same places and post the same things on KZbin. Ofc these places then boost their prices. I'm not saying DK is cheap, but can you remind me how much a pastrami sandwich at the touristy Katz Diner in NY is these days... ;-)

The windmill at 10:15 is in Kastellet (the Citadel). It is in fact still an active army base, but open to the public. It is Military Intelligence that resides there.

Get a bus/metro/train tourist pass you get into alot of things for free and if you rent the donkey bikes through the app you can rent then for 2$ for 12 hours instead of by the hour
@WarrenJulieTravel

I shared the app pricing screenshot for the bikes. I can’t find the pricing you mentioned? There are some long term subscription plans for people living there fulltime for the year which would bring average prices down.
@mouselander

@@WarrenJulieTravel If you pay 40kr for a month subscription “payasyougo”, you can then ride 12 hours for 15 kr at a time and you can rent it again a minute later - so sometimes I have a bike for 30kr a day - there used to be a month rental for 250kr but they got ride of it :-( PS they changed it to only 6 hours for 15kr - it is still cheaper ✌🏾

Danish pastry good. Coffee good. Danish pastry and coffee goes together and becomes a fantastic combo. That´s one of the reasons why Danes are amongst the most coffee drinking people on the planet. We eat a lot of pastries and drink a lot of coffee while we do it.

I used to live in Copenhagen and just now compared the current prices. It depends which city in DK you pick. Copenhagen is by far the most expensive. But Sonderborg is quite affordable in terms of rent. Do not be surprised about hefty prices on public transport. This is a European issue as soon as the public transport system is operating on a high standard. Go to Chicago USA that's where you can have a ride on trains which are 50 years old and more...

With DBS app you can get the same discount on single travels, like with commuter cards. The City Pass that you looked at first could maybe also save you money. But bike is best ;-)
