I lived in Dallas for 8 years but that was in the mid 2000s. The cost of living of and entertainment was the best thing imo. It might be a better place now to socialize bc so many ppl are moving. I'm curious to see where Dallas will be 5 to 10 years from now. Seem like everybody and their mams moving there.

@@QueenofBluntTruth - What hype?!?! There is no Texas hype. All I hear is people trashing us. Even the natives join in. Black people in Dallas in particular tend to be very low key about their existence. This is because we are told that we are country and boring. I was believing it until I started visiting other cities and realized they were just as boring. Dallas is as good as any of them. Now Atlanta is an example of a city that everyone hypes up. Even though I like that city okay its just way overrated.

If you are young black and single I would suggest Houston. The HBCUs alone will bring in the younger party lifestyle. Dallas isn’t bad but it’s definitely more of the city you go when married with kids. Just my observation after living in DFW for 3 years.

Or if you're just black lol. Dallas is nice for sure (as is Houston), but it doesn't have any culture. Especially not like Houston. Black ppl own actual communities in Houston opposed to Dallas, and the food and nightlife is much better. Jobs are the same in my opinion, just really depends on what your experience is.

I moved to Dallas from McKinney back in late 2016. In my opinion, Dallas is a great city to live in without a car, because they have a great public transportation system with trains (referred to as light rail), buses and let's not forget Uber. I drive, but I hate driving on the freeway and will always opt for public transportation and Uber if I'm going downtown or further out.

You got this! You shouldn't have anything to be afraid of! I'm wishing you the best of luck on you following your dreams! When I was there, the traffic didn't seem as bad to me like many say. Yea, it gets bad, but it's not as bad as in cities such as Chicago from my experience.

It's not that bad sis. I just moved here too and trust me, I'm a scary ass driver always have been lmao. You just have to be vigilant and drive defensively tbh, it's more about watching and preparing for what other drivers are going to do. You get used to it though!

Use 75 or 35 or other free highways. Leave a little earlier. The main roads are not that bad depending on where you are going. If convenience and saving a little gas is important then by all means, have fun on that toll. Otherwise, where there is a will there is a way.
