Thoroughly enjoyed watching this. I’m half Italian on my dad’s side, and I studied architecture in Florence for a year and a half in the late 90s and was thoroughly planning on going back to live. Well, it’s nearly 3 decades and I haven’t gone back to live, I’ve had a career change and several life events later, I’m now revisiting the thought of retiring in Italy (due to my circumstances here it would actually be quite a step up in cost of living) I’m fluent with a Florentine accent (that my father teased me about when I returned) but I have to chime in and suggest that anyone thinking about moving to Florence-it’s like many big cities-expensive, noisy, busy, there is theft crime but not violent crime…but you have amenities, there’s always something to do, it’s very walkable. I’d suggest anyone thinking of a move to Italy to indulge in at least a one semester course through any community college. Some have language intensives for a few weeks and it’s a nice buffer going with a group if you’re completely new to a place. It also gives you something to DO rather than just be a tourist-you get a better idea of what quotidian life is like when you’re not just sight seeing. Love the channel! Thanks for all the great info!

I am a Florentine woman and I can tell you that Florence is a good city for living. Not too big, not too small. I am an art historian, I studied here. If you like to walk in countryside is nearby the city. You can learn the most correct Italian language here. Florence is an expensive city for Italians, I don't know if It s the same for foreigners. Making new friends is a bit difficult here, that is the only complain to my citymates. They aren t open too much.

You have chosen a picture of Venice with a restaurant, instead of Florence 😂

Woao 1200 Euro rent at month,??? !! But it is very expensive!!! Why do you pay this rent?? Maybe it is better that you buy some apartment!!! You can find d a good apartment with 100000 Euro loan! And pay it about 500 Euro at month for a certain while!
