I lived in Bolivar for 2 years (from 89 to 91) and loved the area. We could walk to the bank and down to the post office and if we were feeling like a long walk we could walk down to the historic district. I loved the area but hated the lot where my house was located. i moved out to the Junction in 91 and have been here ever since. Jefferson county is changing so much now it is no longer the area that we moved to in 89. Taxes are going up as home values increase and it is getting more difficult to get around with the construction and population increases. It has changed from a nice quiet rural area into something more akin to some of the more populated areas of Maryland or Virginia. I am retired but still working part time locally just to keep active.

@stevew443 Bolivar is such a special place! A good friend of ours has an accupuncture and herbalist shop there. There are some hilly lots there for sure, I'm not sure what it was about your lot you didn't like. I can imagine it's quite a shock coming back. I've been in the area since the 80's as well. It's not as quiet as it used to be but there is still a lot of rural charm, especially for folks coming from larger cities. I hope you're enjoying retirement life, are you in Junction or Shenandoah Junction?

@@movingtowestvirginia My house in Bolivar was behind the school on Cheney. The lot went straight up. I am in Shenandoah Junction. I am a native West Virginian who got stuck in New Jersey for a few years before getting back to my home state. I was raised in Randolph county so I am used to the hills, but I hated mowing that lot in Bolivar

Let’s not forget, the jobs are actually in Northern Virginia
@movingtowestvirginia8 ай бұрын
@oldguynotbald, it's true that some are commuting for work, but many of our clients are working remotely these days! Also, a lot of people relocating for jobs are working in Martinsburg.

@@Oldguynotbald it's an area many are looking at for investment purposes. As prices go up in the DMV, more people are moving west.

I have been watching your videos lately, how is living in Shenandoah Junction, WV and Schools?
@movingtowestvirginia2 ай бұрын
@mbhutto3553, thanks for watching and commenting! Shenandoah Junction has lots of beautiful rural areas. We're not allowed to comment on schools, but I'm happy to share some of our school research resources and other tips for exploring or researching the area. Send us an email at info@raisethebardmv.com and we can talk more!
