I enjoyed this. I've lived in Guanajuato for two years now and quickly realized that 'mañana' from a local trades person doesn't really mean tomorrow, but 'not today.' To thrive here, Americans need to adjust expectations. If you can do that, you'll be fine in Mexico.

You didn’t mention if you had temporary or permanent residency, or if you are working on it still. I am currently in Florida, but soon to be heading back to Merida where I have my residente permanente. Yes, it gets very hot in Merida, but there are a lot of places to go and cool off. The evenings are cooler and it’s always a pleasure to stroll to one of the many parks where there are vendors,music, dancing, etc. winter months are of course cooler and a much enjoyed reprieve from the heat of April, May, and June. You are so right about the people of Mexico. They are so kind and helpful, always wanting to please. Learning to live on Mexico time made me a more patient person. It does no good to get upset, and they don’t understand when you do, so it’s best to just smile and chill. “No problema”. 😀

I've been fat a few times in my life and I've moved to NYC, or gone on vacation in Australia and Spain and lost all the weight every time and it had something to do with the lower stress, food, and all the walking I did. Living in a place and I'm just saying in the US because that's where I live but living in a place where the primary mode of transportation is the car and food is so processed , and social activities are restricted by modern day logistics.....people get fat. Remove yourself from that and put yourself in a different environment and much of the unhealthy fat will go too. Many people have food addictions and that's a battle too but it is a lot easier when you live a certain life style which you can find in Mexico and Spain and probably a lot of other places. Living in a beach town in the US you might get that too but for the money it is hard to beat Mexico in North America.

If high speed internet is important to you, then you should def check the speed of the place you are renting before signing a lease. Ask the landlord for the wifi password so you can do a speed test.

@MexicoRelocationGuide
@MexicoRelocationGuide Жыл бұрын
Hi Anders. I think what they were getting at is that in Huatulco the rental process is not as formal as in other parts of Mexico. You usually just sign a lease, pay your deposits, and move in. They pay about $700 usd a month in rent. It fluctuates because of the exchange rate
